Went away on holiday and came back to this. 👀📈

Spent weeks reworking the SEO and messaging on this client’s website — shifting it from “just an antiques shop” to what it really is now: a full luxury day-out destination in Surrey, with a lifestyle store and restaurant all in one place. New audience, new search terms, new story.

Then I switched off for a bit... and the website didn’t. Site sessions up 86%, unique visitors up 88%, while I was literally on a beach not touching a laptop. 🌴

In my employed role, our marketing manager recently moved on to a new job. They were brilliant at keeping me on the straight and narrow, giving feedback, reassurance and helping me see the bigger picture. I now have a new manager, who I'm really looking forward to working with, but as with any new working relationship, we're still getting to know each other. That confidence and trust naturally takes time to build.

I hadn't realised how much I'd relied on that encouragement until it disappeared, and if I'm honest, that slightly "managerless" feeling has spilled over into my freelance work too.

When you work for yourself, there's no one giving you regular feedback. It's usually just you, your laptop and a very long to-do list.

In fact, I find those overly polished accounts a bit... boring. 🙈

People buy from people. They want to know who you are, what you're passionate about and why they should trust you.
