I spend too much time on the museum of websites (website)

Its quite a source of nostalgia and joy!

Take Pepsi's website from 1996! I mean I know it was the 90s - but companies still had branding and marketing departments!

I mean they had brand colours right?!!!

I love the fact the biggest call to action "CLICK HERE" is a link to the Shockwave plugin!

And who remembers being invited to "Enter" a website. 😂😂

MacDonalds (1996) however was killing it with their first website - at least there was some sort of brand recognition.

I think it possibly shows that websites weren't really considered serious marketing tools back then.

We have come a long way in a short space of time!

I’m not a big fan of surprises. A surprise birthday party would be bad.

Turns out, I’m not alone. Most people don’t like surprises, including when it comes to designing a new website.

That’s why we avoid the classic “ta-da” design reveal. You know the one... where the designer shows you a shiny new homepage and hopes you love it.

It might look good, but if the goals, users and content haven’t been worked out together, it usually ends in confusion and lots of back and forth.

We do things differently. We involve our clients from the start, map everything out, and make sure there’s no big reveal because by the time we get to design, you already know exactly what you’re getting (and why).

No drama. No endless revisions.

During lockdown, I went on a mission.

I wanted to find the perfect CMS for my clients. I’d used WordPress and MODX for years. Both did the job, but they came with baggage.

Too many plugins. Clunky editors. Confusing admin panels.
Surely there was a better option. Something better for me, and better for my clients.

So I made a list of what I wanted:
- Easy to edit
- Fast and modern
- Scalable for custom features
- Cost-effective

After testing loads of options, I found it.
It's called Statamic. Bit of a weird name. Brilliant system.

We now build most of our websites in it. They're faster to manage, easier to update, and much more enjoyable to use.

Why we don’t use WordPress (and it’s not personal)

We’ve built websites for over 15 years, and WordPress just isn’t our go-to anymore. It’s not about hating the platform - it’s about finding better tools for our clients.

Here’s why:

- Too many plugins just to get basic features
- “Free” plugins often come with hidden costs
- Admin areas are messy and inconsistent
- Constant updates to avoid security issues

We prefer platforms that are faster, cleaner, and easier to manage - so local businesses can focus on what they do best.

We recently rebuilt the website for Ecurie Bertelli, specialists in pre-war Aston Martins.

Their old site didn't quite do justice to the brand. Outdated design, clunky editing, and cars that deserved better visibility.

So we rebuilt it from the ground up using Statamic CMS giving the team a fast, elegant site that's a dream to update. We added interactive image hotspots, reworked the mobile experience, and brought the content to life.

Classic cars. Clean design. A site that actually works.
