๐ŸŽ‰ HOWFEN WAKES ๐ŸŽ‰

The Westhoughton Carnival revival has received an overwhelming show of support from local residents after organisers were forced to replace a number of legal notices that had been removed from Central Park.

The notices, which are required as part of the licensing process for the planned "Party in the Park" event on 1st August, were reportedly taken down after being displayed around the park. Organisers have described the incident as disappointing and unnecessary, especially given the amount of time and effort being invested by a small team of volunteers.

The good news is that the setback appears to have had the opposite effect, with even more people rallying behind the plans to bring a carnival-style event back to Westhoughton for the first time in many years.

Organisers say community support has grown significantly since news of the incident emerged.

The proposed event will feature live entertainment, fairground rides, food vendors, local traders and family activities, with hopes that it could be the first step towards restoring a full Westhoughton Carnival in the future.

It's fantastic to see so many people getting behind an event that aims to bring the community together.

Are you looking forward to the return of carnival-style celebrations in Westhoughton? ๐ŸŽ ๐Ÿ‘‡

WESTHOUGHTON TOWN HALL โ€“ RESIDENTS DESERVE AN UPDATE

I have formally raised a question with Westhoughton Town Council requesting an update on the ongoing works at Westhoughton Town Hall.

Many residents have contacted me asking what work has actually been carried out so far, what work remains outstanding, and when the scaffolding surrounding the building will finally be removed.

According to information provided by Bolton Council, the scaffolding is costing around ยฃ1,700 per week. At a time when public finances are under pressure, residents have every right to know what progress is being made and whether this represents good value for money.

I have therefore asked the Council to provide:

โœ… A summary of the work completed to date.
โœ… Details of any remaining works.
โœ… An expected completion date.
โœ… Confirmation of when the scaffolding is likely to be removed.

The next meeting of the Town Council will take place on Monday 29 June.

Transparency and accountability matter. The Town Hall is an important building at the heart of our community, and residents deserve clear answers about how public money is being spent.

As soon as I receive a response, I will share the information with residents.
