People usually decide how they feel about your business long before they enquire (and a lot of that perception comes from what they see online!).

Not just what you post, but...

✨ how you communicate
✨ how consistent you are
✨ how your business feels
✨ what people remember after they've visited your page

That's why social media matters so much. It's not just content, it's often someone's first impression of your business.

One of my favourite things about social media is that it allows businesses to build relationships before they've ever had a conversation. ✨

Long before somebody enquires, books, buys, or sends a message, they're often quietly getting to know your business.

They're reading your posts, looking through your photos, learning about your values, and figuring out whether you're someone they can trust.

And while social media can sometimes feel frustrating, that's something I never lose sight of. Because behind every follower is a real person, and every piece of content is an opportunity to make a genuine connection. 🩷

Social media isn't supposed to feel like a full-time job...

But somewhere along the way, a lot of business owners have started feeling like they need to constantly be creating, posting, filming, editing, responding and keeping up. And honestly? That's exhausting.

Social media should support your business, not consume it. It should help people understand who you are, what you do, and why they should trust you - not leave you feeling overwhelmed before you've even started your day.

The strongest social media strategies aren't always the busiest – they're usually the most intentional. 🩷

One thing social media doesn’t always show properly is that a lot of visbility happens quietly. 👩‍💻

Most people read articles without engaging, or follow along for months before reaching out, hear your business name be brought up in new settings, and remember your name long before they hit the follow button.

And honestly, this is why PR and visibility matters so much! Because people are building trust with your brand way before you even realise they've got their eyes on you.

I've noticed that a lot of small businesses hold themselves back from PR because they think they need to sound “bigger” or be more corporate first.

But credibility doesn’t come from using complicated language or trying to sound like a huge company. Some of the strongest brands are the ones that communicate clearly, thoughtfully and honestly (even with a team of 3).

People connect with businesses that feel human. And good PR should amplify that, not take it away. 🩷

The businesses people remember usually communicate clearly - and I don't mean perfecty, or constantly, and most definitely not loudly.
Just simply clearly.

From looking at your website, your social media, or an article about you, people should be able to easily understand:
✨ what you do
✨ who you help
✨ what your business stands for
(and all without having to piece it together themselves).

And honestly, that clarity becomes even more important when it comes to PR and visibility. Because the clearer the message, the easier it is for people to remember (and talk about) your business.

One of my favourite parts of PR is watching businesses realise that their story is actually worth telling.

So many business owners assume they need to be “bigger”, more established, or doing something groundbreaking before anyone would be interested in hearing about them.

But honestly? Some of the strongest stories come from businesses quietly building something thoughtful, useful, and genuinely impactful.

Sometimes all it takes is:
✨ finding the right angle
✨ reframing the story
✨ helping someone see the value in what they’ve already created

And seeing that shift happen, where a business starts feeling more confident in their visibility and what they bring to the table, will probably always be one of my favourite parts of this job. 🩷

One of the biggest misconceptions about PR is thinking you need a huge announcement to be featured somewhere.

But, the reality is that good PR is usually much more thoughtful than that.

Stories become stronger when there’s relevance, timing, emotion, perspective, and a reason for people to care. And, sometimes, the strongest angle isn't the product itself, it's actually the founder story behind it, or the shift happening within the business and the bigger conversation it connects to.

That’s why strategy matters so much in PR, because the right angle changes everything. 🩷

A lot of people look at PR purely through a set of results - whether that's website clicks, followers, enquiries, or sales. And while those things matter, good PR usually starts somewhere much quieter.

It changes how people perceive your business. And, most importantly it builds credibility, trust, authority, recognition and brand reputation (and all long before somebody actually buys from you!).

And the truth is, that shift in perception is often where the biggest long-term growth begins.

I think social media has made a lot of businesses feel like success should happen loudly. But, some of the strongest brands grow much more quietly than that.

They become recognisable, trusted, recommended, remembered. And, not because they went viral once, but because they communicated clearly and showed up consistently over time.

And that kind of visibility is usually much more valuable long term.
