🔎 Why Website Analytics Are So Important 🔎
If your website is live but you’re not tracking visitors, it’s like running a shop without knowing how many people come in or what they’re looking at 🤷‍♂️ That’s where analytics come in!

Analytics tools (like Google Analytics) tell you who’s visiting your website, where they’re coming from, and what they do once they arrive 🤔

📊 What analytics can reveal:
🚗 Traffic levels - How many people are visiting your site.
📍 Traffic sources - Are they finding you on Google, social media, or somewhere else?
🚀 Page performance - Which pages people love… and which ones they click away from.
👀 Visitor behaviour - How long they stay, where they click, and what grabs their attention.

This data isn’t just “nice to know”, it’s essential in helping you make smarter decisions, improve your website, and focus on what’s working. In short, analytics turn your website from a guessing game into a growth tool 💡

We did social things 🫣
That’s right, WebSorted went offline for once!

Those who know me personally probably know that I’m better at code than conversation, so this was a big step for me - getting out there and talking with real human people at Sedgemoor FM’s Business Networking event 🤝

I thought meeting other local businesspeople face to face was going to be scarier than doing a full website migration without a backup (you can’t escape an IRL conversation by simply closing the chat window…), but it turns out it’s not so bad after all 😅

We're going back in time again to look at the...interesting...web design choices from the internet's past 🦕

It's a big one this time - Microsoft!

Who knew that even one of the forefathers of computing could have once owned a website that looked like...that 😬

Admittedly it was the 90s, and by 2009 their site looked a lot more appealing thanks to the Frutiger Aero aesthetic. Not sure what happened in 2011 to make them go all grey and drab on us, but in the decade following, they truly embraced the corporate vibes 💼

Bunch of squares!

⚽ Exciting news! ⚽

We’re proud to announce that WebSorted has partnered with Apex Soccer Group on their Player Support Fund, an initiative that helps remove financial barriers for grassroots footballers, volunteers, and others involved in the game.

From registration fees and equipment to travel costs, this fund makes sure passion and talent – not financial circumstances – are what drive success on the pitch. We’ve always believed in giving people the tools to thrive, whether that’s a small business online or a young athlete chasing their dream!

A huge thank you to Apex Soccer Group for the amazing work they’re doing in the community. We’re thrilled to play our part in keeping football inclusive and accessible to all, and we can't wait to see what opportunities this opens up with local clubs as we help bolster their online presence 💪

📈 What is a CTA and Why Does It Matter? 📈

Ever noticed those buttons that say things like “Book a Call”, “Buy Now”, or “Get a Free Quote”? That’s a Call to Action (CTA), and it’s one of the most important parts of any website!

A great CTA tells visitors exactly what to do next. Without it, people might read your content, like what they see…and then leave without taking action 🏃‍♀️

👉 Why CTAs are so powerful:
👓 Clarity - Visitors know the next step immediately.
📞 Simplicity - Makes it easy for people to buy, call, or enquire.
📈 Conversions - More clear CTAs = more leads and sales.
➡ Direction - Keeps visitors moving through your website, instead of drifting away.

Think of it like being in a shop - without signs pointing to the till, customers might browse but never buy. The same goes for websites.

Ask yourself: does your site clearly guide people to take the next step?

If not, we can help with that - just get in touch!

See what we did there...? 👀

🖥️ Responsive Web Design and Why You Need It 🖥️
Ever opened a website on your phone and found yourself pinching, zooming, and scrolling every which way just to read the text? That’s what happens when a website isn’t responsive.

A responsive website automatically adapts to any screen size - whether it’s a phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop. In today’s world, where over 60% of web traffic comes from mobile devices, responsiveness isn’t just a nice-to-have, it’s essential!

📱 Why responsive design matters:
💼 Professional look on all devices - A site that looks great everywhere builds trust instantly.
👍 Better user experience - Visitors stay longer when browsing is smooth and easy.
📈 Google loves it - Mobile-friendly sites rank higher in search results.
💰 More leads & sales - If your site is hard to use, customers won’t stick around.

Your website should be as welcoming on a phone as it is on a big screen, and the best websites are designed with mobile-first in mind.

This means the site is designed efficiently and then expanded to cater to larger screen sizes, rather than designing for a big display and then trying to cram everything onto a phone screen.

If your site isn’t responsive, you could be losing out on customers without even knowing it 🚀

🎣 What is Phishing and How Can You Avoid It? 🎣
Phishing is one of the most common online scams, where sneaky rascals try to steal personal information by pretending to be a trusted source. You might receive a fake email, text message, or website link that looks real but is designed to trick you into giving up passwords, credit card numbers, or other sensitive data 👀

🚨 How to spot and avoid phishing scams:
✉ Check the sender - Be wary of emails from unknown or unusual addresses.
🔗 Look for typos & fake links - Phishing emails often contain spelling mistakes or weird-looking URLs.
✋ Never click suspicious links - Hover over links to see the real URL before clicking.
✔ Verify before sharing personal info - Legitimate companies never ask for passwords via email.
📱 Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) - Adds an extra layer of protection to your accounts.

If something feels off, it probably is! When in doubt, contact the company directly using their official website or phone number. Stay smart, stay safe!

First off, did McDonald’s hire a 10 year old for their original website design? If so, it’s not bad. They really captured the apathy in those workers’ cold, dead eyes. And Ronald looks as creepy as ever 🤡

Throughout the early 00s, McDonald’s designs are exactly what you’d expect, but by 2009 they had embraced a classier look. Over the next decade, they were really cooking on gas, with vibrant, modern graphics 🔥

But by 2020, you guessed it…a simplified, blocky layout on a plain white background. Focusing on a streamlined user experience is great, but shall we have a bit of personality? 🤷🏻‍♂️

⚡ Why Website Speed is Important ⚡
We've all been there - waiting so long for a website to load that we just bail out. Well, did you know that 53% of users leave a site if it takes longer than 3 seconds to load? Yep, we’re that impatient! A slow website frustrates visitors, lowers your search ranking, and can even hurt your sales 😭

🚀 Why does speed matter?
😄 Better user experience - People expect websites to load quickly, especially on mobile.
📈 Higher search rankings - Google prioritizes fast websites, so a slow site may rank lower.
💰 More conversions & sales - A slow site drives potential customers away, costing you revenue.
🏃‍♀️ Lower bounce rates - Visitors are more likely to stay and explore when pages load fast.

To speed up your website, optimize images, use caching, choose a reliable hosting provider, and minimize unnecessary code. At WebSorted we prioritise all of this to ensure your website is as speedy as possible. Fast websites = happy visitors = more success! 👍

Now, Amazon has never been the most visually exciting website, but Amazon '95 was as much fun to look at as a bucket of cement 😴 Same colour, too. And I've said it before - the swarm of bright blue hyperlinks makes me want to commit crimes 😐

By the turn of the millennium, Amazon kind of had their branding sorted, but were still championing walloftext-core. Thankfully, they soon realised that shoving product images in our faces was much more likely to make us want to give them our money 🙃

🔹 What is a Favicon and Why Does It Matter? 🔹
Ever noticed a tiny image next to a website’s name in your browser tab? That’s a favicon - a small but powerful branding tool! It helps users quickly identify your site when they have multiple tabs open.

🏷️ Why is a favicon important?
🔍 Brand recognition - Makes your website stand out in browser tabs and bookmarks.
💼 Professionalism - A site without a favicon may look incomplete or untrustworthy.
😄 Better user experience - Helps users find and return to your site more easily.

A favicon is usually a simplified version of your logo or a recognizable brand symbol. Though small, it plays a big role in your website’s identity! If you don’t have one yet, it’s time to create one - and if you need a logo, get in touch! 🎨✨
