I know you’ve been there.

Two weeks of posting consistently, then life happens. A few days off turns into a week, and suddenly you’re drafting “sorry I’ve been MIA” as though everyone’s been waiting for a formal statement.

After almost four years in online business, I’ve learnt that you don’t need to post every day to attract clients. A clear message and a recognisable brand, repeated consistently, can do a lot of the heavy lifting. 🤎

But it’s much easier to keep showing up when every post doesn’t come with another twenty design decisions.

Don’t let the pressure to create content turn every creative decision into a marketing exercise.

I think we’ve forgotten that we’re allowed to post without following all the “rules” Especially as creatives.

I think social media has made us lose touch with our own creativity.

We’re so used to consuming everyone else’s ideas that sometimes we forget to make space for our own.

As a designer, I’ve been making a conscious effort to spend more time OFF my phone and find inspiration in everyday life.
A few little things that have helped me get my creative spark back...

1. Morning walks before I’ve opened an app.
2. Good old-fashioned pen and paper. Writing down my ideas, goals, gratitude and whatever else is going on in my head. 📝
3. Making something. Literally ANYTHING that doesn’t involve a screen. Baking a cake, playing with clay, colouring or making moodboards from old magazines.
4. Taking a different route home from work. You’d be surprised what you notice when you’re not looking at the same things every day.
5. Exploring little independent shops. I LOVE looking at packaging, interiors, books and all the tiny design details.
6. Reading actual books. 📖
7. Meeting friends and leaving my phone in my bag. The WHOLE time.
8. Watching TV again. An entire series without simultaneously scrolling Instagram. Revolutionary, I know. 😂

And probably the biggest thing I’ve realised?
Not everything you do needs to become content.
Sometimes you can just enjoy something without photographing it, sharing it or figuring out how it fits into your business.

I’d love to know if anyone else has been feeling this way.

We’ve all spent years building, growing and learning without AI.

And suddenly it feels like everything is slowly being taken over by it.

The most beautiful thing about being human is the way we see the world. Our lived experiences, the moments that shape us & the way something makes you feel.

In a world saturated with “use this prompt” and “there’s an automation for that”, I believe we’re going to start craving more “humanness”
