A little progress update from the embroidery studio 🪡

This one’s turning into quite a big job! I’m working on a large folk-inspired floral design across the back of a deadstock shirt, all hand-guided on my trusty Singer 20U.

Lots of stitching still to go, but I’m loving how it’s coming together.

Can’t wait to share the finished piece! ❤️

A little work in progress… adding some folk-inspired, hand-guided embroidery to a deadstock shirt I’ve given a fringed makeover.

Still a way to go, but I’m loving how this one’s coming together. ❤️

Don’t chuck your holey jeans just yet 🪡👖

These Dickies came to me pretty battered, with holes and some rather questionable old patches… so instead of trying to hide them, I decided to make a feature of them.

Lots (and lots!) of hand stitching later and this is the result ♡

I’ve used Sashiko-inspired visible mending to reinforce the damaged areas, working over the existing patches and celebrating all the wear and history already in the denim. No two repairs will ever look exactly the same.
And… I’m now offering this as a service at I’d Wear That! 🪡

Got a favourite pair of jeans, jacket or other piece of clothing that’s ripped, worn through or looking a little worse for wear? Bring it into the shop and I can turn the damage into part of the design.

Sashiko-inspired visible mending from £30, with larger/more detailed repairs quoted individually.

To celebrate the opening of the Ossie Clark and Celia Birtwell exhibition at the Fashion and Textile Museum today, I thought I’d share two very special Ossie Clark dresses currently hanging in the shop.

🤍 An iconic Ossie Clark ‘Cuddly’ wrap dress — that incredible open back, fluid skirt and unmistakable 70s silhouette. Swipe to see a similar style worn by Suzanna Leigh in 1973.

💚 And an Ossie Clark for Radley moss crepe dress — beautifully draped, romantic and effortlessly glamorous.

More than 50 years on and these designs still feel completely wearable. That’s what I love about really great vintage… some pieces just don’t date.

This one has officially left the shop… and I’m actually a little sad to see it go 🖤⭐️⚡️

An incredible 1970s black leather coat, completely custom made by a guy called Warwick for a friend of one of my clients. I’ve honestly never seen anything quite like it.

The details are AMAZING… metallic leather lightning bolts, stars, huge eagles across the back, decorated pockets and sleeves… very glam rock, very 70s and completely one of a kind.

Apparently Warwick moved to the US around the same time, and now I’m so intrigued to know what happened next. Did he carry on making incredible leather pieces like this?! If anyone knows anything about a leather maker called Warwick from this era, I’d LOVE to hear from you.

Last week I had the loveliest couple from France pop into the shop while they were visiting Brighton for a few days 🇫🇷🧡

They got very excited when they spotted that I do embroidery and asked if I could add a lotus flower to their Levi’s denim shirt. They wanted the flower viewed from above, so I drew up a few different designs for them to choose from.

They were leaving Brighton shortly afterwards, but luckily I managed to squeeze it in before they had to go… and this is the result! 🪷✨

I love getting to add something personal to pieces you already own.

If you’ve got something in your wardrobe that could do with a little embroidery magic, drop me a DM. It’s also a great way to cover a stain or hole and give a favourite piece a new lease of life.

And you don’t need to be in Brighton… you can post your clothes to me and I’ll embroider them and send them back.
