See How Somerset Council Is Upgrading Homes!
We're proud to share this incredible project that's helping upgrade 1,000 social homes across Somerset. The Eco-Grants Team, in partnership with SCIS Group, is making a real difference.
The project addresses the challenges of old, inefficient housing by installing new, eco-friendly features such as:
Solar Panels with built-in optimizers for maximum efficiency
Air Source Heat Pumps that replace outdated heating systems
Loft and Cavity Wall Insulation to keep homes warm and energy bills down
Residents like Jacqueline have already seen the benefits. She shares how her home went from feeling "cold, damp, and miserable" to "comfortable and a lot cheaper" to run. The grant scheme covers most, if not all, of the costs, which takes a lot of worry off tenants.
But it's not just about the upgrades—it's also about empowering people. The Centre for Sustainable Energy has created Smart Energy Action Plans to help residents understand their energy usage, heat their homes efficiently, and save money.
This project is a fantastic example of how we can work together to improve housing, reduce carbon footprints, and make a positive impact on our community.
