Some proud news this week: we’ve recertified as a B Corp accredited company, and among the early wave of businesses to certify against B Lab’s new standards.

Last month also happened to be our annual summer community tea party, a fitting time to share this, since being a B Corp has never been about a certificate on the wall, but the everyday choices behind it. We celebrated by gathering our community round the table for a strawberry themed get-together, which is at the heart of Talking Tables: good food, good people, and a business that gives back to the community it’s part of.

Swipe through for a few special moments from the day.

Host it. Love it. Here’s how we keep it simple:

1) Let the produce do the work: thick-sliced tomatoes, a drizzle of oil, done.

2) Prep your salads early and keep them in the fridge, ready to whip out the moment everyone takes their seats.

3) Start drinks somewhere else: a different spot means guests arrive at the table when the food’s ready, not before, and gives a little more time for last minute prep.

4) Snip herbs straight from the pot, straight onto the plate. Cut herbs fresh from the garden also work very well as small clusters in a bud vase to add a simple decoration to the centre of the table.

5) Hold on to those favourite recipes and passed on ideas. You kept them for a reason!

Let’s get together: finally turning into catch up dates 🌱

Earlier in the week the team swapped London desks for Clare’s kitchen table for an away day at our founder’s house in the beautiful countryside, and the perfect excuse to gather other local members of the wider team for lunch. As it was the last week of August, it felt right to make the most of one of the last al fresco moments of the year and lay the table outdoors on the patio.

Round the table: Melanie, who designed the very products we were laying out in front of her, and Sophie, popping in from maternity leave for the catch-up we’d been looking forward to for months.

While our team are often far and wide over the summer holidays, we love the times we can get together in-person round a table and catch up on the little things that brighten everyone’s day, outside the 9-5.

As the nights draw in and we embrace the last of the long summer evenings, don’t forget the joy of an impromptu plan. All it takes is a quick text to the group chat, saying “dinner at mine?”

Good food. Good times. Great tables. Because keeping everyone connected doesn’t have to be complicated.

🍓 Pull up a chair 🍓

Last Saturday we spent the afternoon hosting our summer tea party with our local community friends. It was filled with strawberries, cream, sunflowers, crafting and lots of laughter.

This is the bit of hosting we love most. Not the styling, not the props but the people round the table and catching up with familiar faces who we’ve built friendships with over the last few years.

The earlier dark evenings are no reason to stop dining al fresco ✨ we love nothing more than continuing chatting and laughing around the table well into the twilight with the twinkling glow from our enamel lanterns.

Longing for last week’s sun? Or loving this week’s cooler air?!

Either way we’re missing the warmth and glow from this gorgeous al fresco gathering with spritz in hand and sharing some laughs around the table from golden hour into twilight.

Golden hour, glasses raised!

Who’s familiar with “Let’s get together soon!” then the group chat goes quiet for three weeks?! Plans get pushed to “definitely next month.”

Until suddenly, a Tuesday clears. Someone says “just come round, no fuss.”

This is what it looks like when the date finally sticks. Making the most out of any outdoor space, sunflowers spilling out of the jug, a spritz in hand before anyone’s properly sat down. No seating plan, just good company, making an ordinary evening run long into dusk.

The hardest part is never the hosting. It’s getting everyone round the table. What night are you finally inviting people round?!

Kinda chic. Kinda hosting. Kinda obsessed with a beautifully set table. Definitely love bringing people together ❤️
