It all started in 2015 when I was looking for a t-shirt with a pineapple on it. I had a very clear vision of what I wanted, but I couldn’t find anything that specific anywhere in the normal shops, or even online. So this got me thinking… I have always been a keen DIY-er, so after realising I wasn’t going to find what I wanted on the high street or online, I decided to look on YouTube at different ways of printing my own t-shirts. This is where I found out about transfer paper, and began to print my own t-shirts.
My first few designs were ones I had drawn myself. I have struggled with severe anxiety since 2013, so when I was feeling anxious, I would draw to try and take my mind off of everything. By then using these designs to create fun t-shirts, was a way of me turning something so negative into a big positive and in a way overcoming my anxiety.
Another thing I always wanted to do, as a keen DIY-er, was tie-dye t-shirts for the summer but I never got around to it. So one day I decided to go online and order a beginners tie-dye kit, when it arrived I began dyeing t-shirts, pillowcases, aprons, I went a bit dye crazy to be honest and had to refrain from dyeing everything I owned!
During this time I started studying Media at Canterbury College, and I used to wear my creations in to class, and soon my friends began to comment on my custom t-shirts. They would ask if they could buy one! So I thought, yeah of course, it’s great fun and I get to make a bit of money from it. Why not.
