I’ve been a little quiet lately. I’ll be honest these dark winter days have a way of catching up with my energy. For a long time, I thought I had to be performing at 100% every single day to be "successful," but I’m learning that recognising what your body needs is the most productive thing you can do.

I've said it before, but business isn't a straight line; it’s a squiggly one, and sometimes we just need to change the ink. ✒️

Even when the energy feels low, I’ve been finding pockets of light and positivity:

• A rare glimpse of a sunny winter sky.
• A last-minute evening in London at an awards ceremony under the glow of Big Ben.
• The sheer joy of seeing a client open their new premises.
• The creative spark of a meeting to revamp a website and pull back the curtains on a new vision.

What I’m trying to say is that there is beauty and pain in everything. Even when you’re struggling, know that those low times are only temporary. The impact you’ve made doesn’t disappear just because you need a moment to rest.
Take the step. Listen to what you need. The sun always comes back around. ☀️

The head of Instagram has recently said that hashtags are not as important to a post's success on the platform, and I wanted to share my thoughts on this. 🤔

It seems to be all about AI-driven content and organic engagement these days, which might be why hashtags are now less favored. Hashtags can sometimes show your content to an audience that isn't truly aligned with your brand, even if they follow that specific tag.

For me, success has always been about focusing on quality over quantity. Here's what I believe is key to a truly optimised Instagram strategy:

1️⃣ Be Strategic with Your Content: Ensure every post aligns with your brand pillars and meets a purpose.
2️⃣ Master the Caption: A strong caption with a clear call to action is crucial for driving real engagement.
3️⃣ Review Your Analytics: Use Meta Business Suite to understand what's working and what isn't. What performs well on Instagram might be different on Facebook, and your data holds the answers.
4️⃣ Utilise New Features: Stay updated! Make sure you're using all the latest functionality, such as new Reels edits and effects. If your app gets glitchy, it's a good sign it needs an update to get you access to the newest features.🤖

So while the role of hashtags may be evolving, there's so much more you can be doing to ensure your content is seen by the right people and that your Instagram is fully optimised.
