Girl stop what you’re doing. It’s the weekend. Put your phone down and your laptop away. Stick your business owner hat in a draw and go enjoy yourself! You can put that hat back on on Monday!

Running your own small business is wild. You quit the 9-5 for the flexibility and to be your own boss. But now you’re working 147 hours a week and Daddy Algo is the boss 😳

If you’re anything like me you wouldn’t change it for anything else! But give yourself a break. Go pour that spicy margarita. And give yourself the weekend.

As a fully qualified social media manager and small business owner, it’s my professional recommendation. 🍸

See you on Monday.

Or you could do this 👇🏽

Instagram is easier for busy small business owners when they have a plan.

It removes the, sh*t what am I gonna post today panic.

Not only will you know in advance what to post, but each post will have a purpose.

It might be designed to Reach new followers. It could be Retaining current followers, building that community of engaged clients or customers. Or it could be posted to generate Revenue, content that that converts into bookings, with CTAs that say, click the link, DM me to book, join our next group…

When you have a plan, you can follow it.

When you travel, you know your route and preferred transport methods in advance, you don’t hitchhike with strangers. Although I did once travel from Manchester to Sheffield in a Courage Beer lorry, but that’s a different story…. Though if you’ve read this far and would like to know comment BEERS and I’ll DM you!

6 enquiries after posting for just one week.

This is what happened for my client and this is how we did it:

Optimised bio and name for SEO.
Spoke directly to their ideal client.
Used Reels for reach with fast cuts of interesting video, some trending audio, and on screen text that spoke directly to the perfect follower.
Optimised caption and use of strategic hashtags for max SEO
Ended with a very clear CTA.
Used super specific proactive engagement to increase visibility.
Engaged reactively in a timely fashion to maximise results from those enquiries.
Posted consistently.

6 enquires.

You can make this happen by being strategic with your posts. Every post has a purpose. The different ways you can post, produce different results.

If you’re just grabbing your phone thinking what the hell am I gonna post today, unless you get struck by the hella luck Gods ⚡️You won’t shift the needle much.

SAVE this trending audio Reel now and pair it with this perfect HOOK!

This audio is at around 4000 uses so it’s growing but it’s still early so jump on it today.

Write this HOOK on screen:

I just had to let you know X

Let’s fill in X for your small biz:

Nutritionist: if you’re perimenopausal and trying to hit your protein goals, this is the breakfast I would make on repeat

Restaurant / café: if you still haven’t got mum a Mother’s Day gift, this afternoon tea is your get out of jail free card!

Therapist: if stress is keeping you awake at night, this is the one bedtime routine change I’d make first

Get really specific! Drill down into what your customer or client really needs from you.

Questions? Ask em in the comments. But don’t forget to save this Reel first so you can find the audio easily.

Remind your audience that you’re there for them. With the same beer. Different cocktails. Different toffees or pastries…. Whatever they need: you’re there. 🫶🏽

So easy to film! You don’t even need that final clip with two people if you’re on your own doing your filming.

Just prop your phone up somewhere with good light. And keep placing the drink, coffee, cake down on the same spot. Then just edit the footage using the insta app, if I like to rude Edits.

It’s so cringey!! 🙈

I hear this from clients all the time! Why do I have to film myself? Isn’t it bad enough that I have to take a photo. I don’t want to pretend I’m drinking coffee online! I’m not a teenager!

I get it! Believe me. I’m Gen X for gods sake! I can’t film any Reels if my husband is working from home! I’m way too embarrassed that he’ll walk in while I’m pointing to imaginary words on the screen. 🙈😂

But this is social media marketing on a social media platform. People are looking for connection. They need an emotional reason to want to invest their time energy and money on your small business. They need to see you.

But Suze I don’t know what owner of Adidas or Andrex look like! True. But Adidas use famous sportspeople. And Andrex went down the cute puppy route. They created a connection.

So yes. You do need to show up on social media if you are using it to market your small business. It will feel cringe. But it will make a difference. And it will get easier.

If you’ve found this useful, drop us a follow over at and make all the cringe worthwhile!

Steal my HOOKS 👇🏽

The solution to all my problems might not be ___ but I should probably go & check…

Fill in the blank with:
Hotels / holiday cottages - a city break with my BFF / a weekend at the coast with the fam / a kingsize with 400 thread count sheets and a tub in the room

Cafés / Coffee Shops - an iced matcha and cinnamon bun / an Easter themed hot chocolate with a side of mini eggs

Restaurants / gastro pubs - bottomless brunch with the girls / steak dinner for 2 with a side of flirting

Think about it as this:

What do you provide / sell? How can you talk about the benefit of that to the person who really needs it?

Are you an estate agent? The solution to all my problems might not be a new house but I should probably go & check out this one 🏡

Are you an interior designer? The solution to all my problems might not be striped wallpaper in the spare room but I should probably go & check…

Add humour, add personality. Make people smile. Make people remember you.

Want more hooks to use? Comment HOOKSPLEASE and I’ll DM you.

PS you’re about to see this trend everywhere so save the audio and jump on it now! It’ll work for every industry: not everyone will choose our hotel / restaurant / yoga class / coffee shop etc… a bit of cheeky fun…

Most hospitality businesses don’t have a demand problem at Easter 🐣

They have a timing problem.

By the time April arrives, your guests have already:

• Compared options
• Checked availability
• Sent links to their group chat
• Made a decision

And if you haven’t been visible before that moment? You’re not in the running.

This is what I mean when I talk about strategy over spontaneity.

Instagram for boutique hotels, holiday cottages, coffee shops and restaurants isn’t about chasing viral moments.

It’s about:

Reach: being seen early enough to matter.
Retain: building enough familiarity to feel like the obvious choice.
Revenue: making the booking feel easy and natural.

By April, you shouldn’t be trying to create demand; you should be capturing it.

Easter.
Then May Bank Holidays.
Then summer planning begins.

Hospitality marketing is seasonal but strategy should be constant.

If you’re in hospitality and want your Instagram to support bookings this spring, my DMs are open.

Get in contact and let’s get your Instagram account driving your bookings and enquiries…

I hate to be the one to tell you but you’re doing it wrong!

Successfully marketing a business on social media is not about posting pictures of your products, or creating a pretty Canva post about your services.

It’s about showing people how your product or service will make life better for them. How it will solve a problem they have. Or, it’s about entertaining them, making your brand memorable using humour (hello Aldi 👋🏽 the masters of humour on social media. Anyone remember the Colin the caterpillar wars?!).
Or it’s about educating them, positioning yourself as an expert by sharing valuable informative content, and highlighting how it’s helped people before…

Posting pictures or making images in Canva will fill a content calendar. But that’s not a strategy that taps into human psychology and successfully markets your small business on socials.

Have a think about how your biz helps people. Focus on that in your marketing. And if you have any questions, drop them in the comments.
I got you.
