That time we recreated an Indiana Jones film on the hottest day of the year…. I literally could not contain my excitement at the prospect of being part of Celine and Rick’s wedding from the second I met them at a wedding fair over 3 years ago when they told me that the entire day was going to be Indiana Jones themed…. during which time I came up with a load of ideas for how we could bring a little bit of Dr Jones into the ceremony itself…. and I have to say, it exceeded all my expectations for just how much fun it would be.

From reading their story from a giant treasure map, guests solving rune stone puzzles to select witnesses, ‘eye ball soup’ to decide who went first with their vows, and rolling a boulder down the aisle at the end of the ceremony as Rick collected his Fedora from the hat stand, it was just full of fun and most importantly love!

Here’s 5 reasons (in no particular order) as to why we picked Holmes Mill as our wedding venue, for all the lovely people I have met at the Holmes Mill Wedding Fair today...

1. Industrial feel - the venue just dresses itself (if that makes sense) - and the photo opps are incredible

2. We loved this ceremony space, where else can you have festoon lights and school chairs?

3. Bowling alley - so many of our guests commented on how much fun this was for the drinks reception and it was a great way to get the interaction going early on

4. Brewery - Rich is a beer aficionado so organising a party in a brewery and having his face on the beer font just made total sense.

5. Everything on site… Having accommodation on site was a massive plus, but also having all the other amenities like the cafe, beer hall, and Everyman cinema right there was brilliant for our guests that had travelled a bit further and wanted to stay a couple of nights plus bonus points for the super cute town of Clitheroe on the door step.

I know I said there were only 5 reasons but I needed 6….

6. Dog friendly - which meant our spaniel Hetti was a surprise guest and ring bearer

There’s probably about 100 other reasons tbh!

Everyone in the room knew this was going to epic from the first second of Nathan and Red’s ceremony when Nathan made the ultimate iconic entrance, strutting down the aisle to Raye’s Where’s My Husband.

From that epic start, the ceremony turned into pure magic. There wasn’t a single dry eye in the room when it came time for their vows - which had a fun twist of their own! We used The Traitors Chest of Chance to decide who would read theirs first.

To make it even more special a
paw print of approval was added to their certificate 🐾, and then their close friends and soon-to-be-born baby were woven into a beautiful, meaningful handfasting ceremony.

Love, laughter, and a magical, unforgettable day for Lianne and Adam.

It was an absolute honour to craft and deliver a ceremony for such a fab couple. Helping two people tell their story with so much of ‘them’ injected into it, in front of their favourite people is why I love being a celebrant so much.

Wishing Lianne and Adam a lifetime full of happiness and adventures together!

There isn’t much else to say about Vikki other than how fantastic she is! She made the ceremony, the meetings, the phone calls, the emails all extremely easy. She worked with us, she took the lead but equally let us lead too with our ideas and she just made them all work! Nothing was too much.
She was on board with everything and we loved hearing her stories of previous ceremonies which then gave us ideas…
She felt like home… and that’s just what you need when planning a wedding, someone to just listen, smile & make all your ideas become reality!
We had names pulled out of a bag, guests involved answering questions, white gloves with ‘ring security’ and even a cardboard cut out of our dog and nothing was too much for her, she made it all flow flawlessly!

August was so full of love - and yet my camera roll is not very full of photos. My priority on a wedding day is always to be present for everyone that needs me, the venue team and suppliers and family and friends and people involved in the ceremony that sometimes I just don’t take many pics - the couple and the ceremony is always the priority, which is why I am so blessed to work with so many professionals who do a much better job than me with the pics and videos. This was such a fun day to be part of. A ceremony packed with laughter, bursting at the seams with fun (spaniel ring bearer and 'Play Your Cards Right' were my personal highlights), and with so much love bouncing off every single surface in the room, it was just an absolute pleasure to be part of it all. This sunshine has me thinking back to this absolutely beautiful April afternoon at the River Barn for Toni & Tony, captured so beautifully by Adam Hudson. It was a ceremony full of sentiment and feeling. We made Mai Tai’s and raised a glass to Toni’s Mum and had a ‘cup draw’ Man United -v- Preston North End to decide who would go first with their vows. I am a great believer in fate and I feel like this couple were sent to me to tell their story and incorporate their loved ones in such a poignant and meaningful way - I got goosebumps when I was setting up before the guests arrived and I pulled out 2 perfectly heart shaped cherries from the jar for the cocktails (scroll to see perfect they were). What an incredibly special day to be part of.

This one is for all the Top Gun fans out there….

How has it been ten weeks already since Amy and Anthony’s day at the Hawthorns?

It was something straight out of a film at the end, as I had perfectly timed my closing words to the intro to the Top Gun anthem so at the exact moment I said ‘Mr and Mrs Coady’ the crescendo of the tune kicked in at just the right second.
