I had one of those weeks last week. Where it feels like all the balls you’re juggling just won’t stay in the air no matter how hard you try.

Weeks like that remind me of the early days of my business, when I was jumping between starting my business and my mum duties on the regular. And not really feeling like I was doing my best at either of them.

Turns out with 10 years of experience behind you, you can still have weeks like that. Just with teenagers instead of toddlers (still loud, still demanding, too many eye rolls).

And what’s the first thing that always gets dropped in these hectic weeks?
Socials! Everytime. Am I right?

It’s the main channel to keep our brands out there. Socials should be the task we refuse to drop. But if you don’t have content ready to go, then it becomes a huge task you just don’t have time for.*

That’s why I put a whole module on creating content into The Confident Brand Blueprint. It teaches you how to spend less time on creating your content, meaning you always have a stack of branded graphics ready to go.

No more “OMG, what am I going to post” moments

*I would like to admit that I made the above graphic about 5 min before I posted this. Hey, I’m still catching up from last week 🤦‍♀️

Don't you just hate it when there's too much text crammed onto a graphic or it's just way too small to read?

Here's a little tip. Always look at your graphic in the size it will be displayed.

This will help you to see your graphic as your audience will (remember over 80% of people only use their phones for Facebook viewing).

If you can't read it, they definitely won't.

Anyone else so bored of the cartoon style AI images we are seeing everywhere?

I've seen so many of them that they all blur into one. I'm definitely not paying any attention to what they are advertising.

AI has its place in the world but when you use it to produce identical content to other businesses, then you are giving control of your brand to a computer prompt. And that is never a good thing.

Let's keep ourselves in control of the AI and if you are using it, then make sure you tell it what your brand personality is, what your brand identity is. Then you might actually get something that makes your business stand out instead of blending in with all the others.

The colours you chose for your branding will affect the way your brand is viewed by your target audience.

Different colours trigger different emotions, so are you using the right ones in your brand identity?

Red is a hugely emotive colour choice. It can take us from anger to love, via fast paced energy. Is Red your brand colour, and if it is, why did you choose it?

The Confident Brand Blueprint courses have been 2 years in the making.
They started as workshops, I put them on pause during the hardest year of my life, and are now they’ve been launched with love and intention.
In July 2023, I put everything on hold to spend time with my husband after his bowel cancer diagnosis.
2 years ago, in March 2024, he died.
Coming back to work felt impossible… until I realised that completing the 3 courses was part of my healing.
They’re built for small business owners like me, who want to show up, stand out, and still stay true to themselves.
Ray always believed in me. I know he’d be proud (and probably a bit amazed that I actually finished them)
p.s. I've written a blog about my quest to finish these courses, you can find it through the link if you fancy a read.

It's always lovely when someone I've known for a while, comes to me when they have a new venture to brand.
Christine had a strong vision for which I was certain we could represent in her branding.

True Tides Wellbeing branding comes from the ideas that whatever happens the sun always rises, the tide always turns. It fits perfectly with her services where she helps people to find calm and balance within this chaotic world.

I love the flow in this logo, which is why I also adapted it into a pattern that can be used on posters and socials. The colours are also just so calming, and the roundness in the typefaces are just right.

This is what branding is all about. Taking the essence of your business and turning it into a symbol that really speaks for you.

Is your brand colour putting people off your posts? Colours are really emptive. Our brains very quickly make decisions based on what emotions certain colours spark for us.

Quick examples of 2 of the most used brand colours
🔴 = Danger - but is that exciting or scary?
🔵 = Calm - but is that peaceful or boring?

Your colour choice is setting the scene for the rest of your brand personality.
So what's your brand colour saying about you?

Umbrella brands ☔

It amazes me how many of you have multiple businesses to bring under one brand. It's actually one of the more common questions I'm asked.

How can I bring them all together, yet still have them branded as individual services?

I always go to Richard Branson when asked this question.

He took one logo and used it for everything.

Airlines
Cruise ships
Money
Music
Space travel!

He stuck with that logo and it's working.

The thing is, if you are already well known for one thing, then why wouldn't you trade off that success with your next service?

You already have brand recognition and trust. Use it to build your next service on.

There are loads of clever design tricks that we can do with colours and things, but essentially, I always recommend using one feature to link them all.

I'd love to know how you manage your brands if you have multiple income streams.
