Our speaker for this meeting is Len Foster from The Referral Edge

The Awkward Ask

AI is rapidly reshaping how businesses operate, making it faster and easier than ever to produce content, automate processes and scale activity. But as more becomes automated, one thing is becoming increasingly valuable - the ability to build genuine, trust-based relationships.

Author, coach and business consultant, Len Foster, explores how service-based businesses can use this shift to their advantage, strengthening relationships, creating loyal advocates, and generating growth through strategic referrals.

Grounded in decades of real-world experience and informed by the themes developed in his latest book, The Strategic Referral System, Len’s presentation explores:

• Why trust, connection, and client experience influence whether people choose to stay, recommend and advocate

• How referrals can be intentionally designed into the client journey

• The role of language, timing, and positioning in creating natural, high-quality referral opportunities

• The ‘Hero Triangle’ framework - understanding your role in the referral process, and why positioning your client as the hero leads to stronger, longer-lasting relationships

And of course, there’ll be plenty of time for relaxed, friendly networking with other local business owners.

If you’d like to join us, send us a message for more information or book via the links on our page.

Come along, make new connections, and start your Friday with great conversation and fresh opportunities.

Our speaker for this meeting is Lindsay Colbeck from Rapport PR.

The Power of PR

PR is one of the most misunderstood disciplines in business, and one of the most powerful and influential.

In this talk, Lindsay will cut through the confusion to explain what public relations actually is, how it has changed, and why it matters more than ever. Drawing on the PRCA's landmark new definition, Lindsay explores how PR has evolved from a glamour industry into a strategic boardroom discipline, and why reputation, trust and communications strategy are crucial for business growth.

We have another fantastic meeting lined up for Northern Lights Business Networking this Friday. We have lots of visitors already booked in to join our members, and whilst this group is never going to be about bums on seats, it's undeniable that there is a vibrancy about the meetings when people are meeting up and making new connections.

The important thing is that, whatever the numbers, the meetings are enjoyable and productive. We believe we have that balance just about right – the structure to encourage business to happen, but the atmosphere that makes it something to look forward to.

Have you ever been on the receiving end of one of those pushy salespeople who try and guilt trip you into buying something that both of you know you don't need or want?

It's pants isn't it? 🤢

The worst thing about it isn't even the fact that being pushy feels so awful; its the fact that it doesn't even work as a sales technique! It just makes people avoid that person like the plague and gives the business a bad name.

So how dooo you make more sales without being pushy, spammy or sleazy?

Well that's exactly what I'll be sharing in this week's 20 minute speaking / business tips slot at Northern Lights Networking.

I have loads of great advice about how to make lots more lovely sales, but to do it in a way that feels natural, comfortable, knowledgeable and confident.

Plus you'll get chance to meet and network with 20 local businesses and make some brilliant new connections.

Happy days!

Happy New Year!

We’ve reached the end of what we hope has been an enjoyable festive break, and many of us are slowly emerging from hibernation as normal work and family routines return. We might still be struggling to remember what day it is – or what we’re meant to be doing – but hopefully we’re feeling refreshed, motivated, and ready for a successful year ahead.

One great way to get the ball rolling is by getting our networking working for us again.

Well, here we are – our final meeting of 2025!

And what could be more Christmassy than a budget quiz!

This Friday at Northern Lights Business Networking, David Buxton, Chartered Accountant and Managing Partner of The Buxton Partnership will be explaining what the recent budget means for us all. Don't worry though – it's not going to be too dry. In fact, it's due to be delivered in the form of a quiz (we just don’t yet know whether it’s 'The 1% Club', ‘Family Fortunes' or 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire?'!) Who knows – maybe there'll even be prizes!

And, as always, there'll be plenty of chance to build connections with attendees from other local businesses. Expect Christmas jumpers and a few bad jokes – what more could you ask for?! Go on – get yourself booked in!

Friday 12th December, 9.30 to 11.30am at Woodside Golf Club in Cranage (off the A50 between Holmes Chapel and Knutsford).

We've all been there – we've clicked on a website but it's been more hassle than it's worth to find what we're after. So we just click off and go elsewhere.

This Friday at Northern Lights Business Networking, Sam Norcross from NX Created will be sharing advice on "Improving the user experience of your website" – quick wins that you can use to make sure that your website is attracting and keeping the right people.

So, if that's of interest plus you fancy meeting and building connections with attendees from other local businesses and building connections, chatting over a brew and no doubt sharing a few bad jokes, get yourself booked in!

Friday 14th November, 9.30 to 11.30am at Woodside Golf Club in Cranage (off the A50 between Holmes Chapel and Knutsford).
