Honestly, I hear versions of these every single week from brilliant business owners who are working hard to show up online whilst also running an actual business, having a life, and attempting not to lose the plot over Reels.

And I genuinely get it. Social media can feel exciting one minute… then completely exhausting the next.

So for a bit of Friday fun, I’ve translated some classic Instagram business-owner phrases into wildly overprofessional corporate language.

“I’m no good at Reels.”
“I can’t do Reels, they take me HOURS.”

If I had a penny for every time I’ve heard that… I’d be doing very nicely 😅

But honestly? It’s not true.

Reels don’t have to take hours.
This one didn’t.

There are quick, simple ways to create content that actually stops the scroll and takes minutes, not your entire afternoon.

Using the EDITS app, I’m going to show you how to:

• add moving text (the kind that makes people pause)
• turn your photos into video
• create easy voiceover reels
• and build a repeatable formula you can come back to again and again

Because Reels are still one of the best ways to get seen. And people can’t work with you if they can’t see you.

Morning!!

Just wanted to say I am so excited to be back, present and ready to support you!

Feeling incredibly grateful as my diary is already filling up for January for those New Year check in audits.

The platform updates have been shifting how content is prioritised and it has been having a challenging effect for many businesses (lots of you reporting notably losing followers).

However, how we need to show up has also moved on and sometimes it’s good to reflect back and get another pair of eyes on your content to see whether you are missing a trick and identify what else you could be doing.

Often this can mean just simple tweaks, sometimes bigger changes, but we would go through these together.

If you’ve ever hovered over the ‘post’ button and thought… maybe not today, this is for you.

A little re-introduction, because a few things have shifted.

I’m Hannah. A marketer of 20+ years, a naturally introverted founder, and someone who knows first-hand how exposing it can feel to show up online, especially when people you know are watching.

HanSocial exists because I don’t believe you need to be louder, slicker or more “on it” to grow a business on Instagram.

You need a way that feels steady, sustainable and true to you.

Over the years I’ve learned this:

- You don’t need to be perfect to be visible.
- You don’t disappear if you take a break.
- And the right people don’t need convincing, they recognise themselves in what you share.

Happy New Year from me!

2026 already feels like it’s bringing good energy and I’m very here for that😊

I’ve taken a bit of a breather from socials over the festive break, choosing to be more present with my family. But I couldn’t help noticing how many conversations there’s been about letting go of what no longer serves us and stepping into a year with more momentum, warmth and possibility. That feels like a good place to start.

On New Year’s Day we headed down to Camber for an Airbnb changeover and honestly, I never mind working when it ends with a beach walk. It was sooo cold, really windy, and completely exhilarating. Exactly what my nervous system needed.

The sea (and the mountains) will always be my happy place 🌊

Instagram has quietly dropped an update that massively boosts organic visibility, and hardly anyone is talking about it.

You can now allow anyone to share your public Stories… even if they aren’t following you.

Your Stories can spread far beyond your bubble, landing you in front of totally new (and more relevant) audiences.

And here’s the part most people underestimate:
🌱When someone replies to your Story, the conversation starts in your DMs, the most valuable space on the app.

🌱This is where trust builds, where enquiries begin, where relationships form.

🌱DMs are gold dust for small businesses.

Pair this with the new REPOSTS feature (your very own curated
recommendations tab), and Instagram is clearly moving in one direction:

➡️ Visibility through connection
➡️ Discovery through community
➡️ Growth through conversations

So if you’re trying to grow?
Post Stories.
Talk to people.

If there’s one thing I’ve learnt from years of working with brilliant small business owners, it’s this:

… a tiny bit of kindness online can genuinely change someone’s day.

It doesn’t have to be grand.
No long essays. No overthinking.
Just… a moment.

👉 A comment that says “I love this, keep going.”
👉 A story share with “you need to follow them.”
👉 A DM telling someone their work inspired you.
👉 A quick recommendation for a service you genuinely rate.

These tiny gestures build the kind of community we all want to be part of on Instagram, supportive, human, generous.

And honestly?
Kindness is how we grow here.
Not algorithms.
Not hacks.
Just humans helping humans.

So today, for World Kindness Day, maybe choose one person whose work you admire… and let them know.

It takes seconds. But it lands deeply.
