One of the weird things we’re seeing with AI search is that a lot of the businesses suddenly getting good visibility aren’t the ones who’ve spent years trying to game Google. 🤖

They’re usually the businesses that actually know what they’re talking about.

The clients we’ve worked with long-term on proper content and authority building are showing up really well in AI search already. Not because we cracked some secret AI formula. Mostly because their websites contain useful information written by people who understand their industry.

Which sounds painfully obvious now that Google’s AI can actually read context properly. 🤔

A lot of SEO for the past 10 years was built around writing for algorithms first and humans second.
You can see which websites did that immediately once AI starts summarising content.

Some sites genuinely help answer questions.
Others read like they were written by a guy trying to hit a keyword target before lunch.

Google seems a lot less impressed by that these days.

Search is moving away from “10 blue links” and becoming far more AI-driven, conversational, and personalised.

Which means businesses are going to need more than:
❌ generic blogs
❌ keyword stuffing
❌ throwing money at Google Ads and hoping for the best

Visibility is becoming an authority game.

If someone asked AI about your business today, what would it actually say?

Not what you think it says, that's for sure.

What can it piece together from your website, your content, your reviews, your LinkedIn, your random mentions across the internet? Because that’s what it’s doing.

A potential client might ask:
“Who’s the best company for this?”

A candidate might ask:
“What’s it like to work there?”

An investor might ask:
“Are they credible?”

And AI is answering… based on whatever it can find.

Outdated pages. Half-written service descriptions. A few reviews. Maybe something you posted three years ago and forgot about. Those old pages that were removed from your main website menu but still exist.

That becomes your reputation. 🤯

51% of your website traffic isn’t human.

Which means there’s a very real chance you’re being sent reports every month… that look busy, but don’t actually mean much.

Bots, crawlers, AI systems — they’re all hitting your site. They inflate numbers. They make things look like they’re “working”.

But they’re not buying.
They’re not enquiring.
They’re not your next client.

So if you’re being told:
“traffic is up”
“sessions are increasing”
“look at this growth”

…it’s worth asking a better question.

Is this real visibility? Or just activity?

Because right now, a lot of decision-making is happening before someone ever clicks through to your website.

Honestly? That approach is dead.

Everyone and their fridge has AI now. Everyone can pump out content. Everyone can “do SEO”.

And most of it is completely forgettable.

Churning out more stuff doesn’t make you visible. It just makes you noisier.

The businesses actually getting somewhere are the ones who’ve done the hard bit:
👉 They know exactly what they do,
👉 Who they do it for, and
👉 They’re not trying to be everything to everyone.

They’re clear. They’re consistent. They sound like they actually know what they’re talking about.

AI doesn’t reward effort.
It rewards clarity and trust.

If your content is vague, generic, or trying to cover every possible angle… you’re not being considered by the robots. You’re being ignored.

A lot of businesses have good content. The problem is… AI can’t actually understand it.

It’s buried in waffle, written for “SEO”, or trying to say five things at once — so when AI goes looking for an answer, it just skips straight past. And then everyone’s surprised when they don’t get mentioned.

What actually works is much simpler (and much less exciting):
→ Say the thing clearly
→ Answer the question properly
→ Structure it so a human can skim it (because AI does the same)

That usually means:
• getting to the point faster
• using headings that match how people actually ask things
• and backing up what you’re saying with something real

Clarity isn’t just about readability anymore. It’s the difference between being referenced… or being ignored.

SEO right now feels a bit like grief. 😢

🙅 Denial: “It’ll go back to normal.”
😡 Anger: “Why are my clicks dropping when rankings are fine?”
🥺 Bargaining: “Maybe if we just publish more blogs…?”
🧘‍♀️ Reflection: “Something’s clearly changed.”
😉 Acceptance: “Right. We need a different approach.”

If your rankings look fine but your clicks don’t, you’re not losing your mind. Search hasn’t broken. It’s just moved on.

Most businesses are still stuck somewhere between denial and bargaining. The ones getting ahead? They’ve accepted it and adjusted.
