FRESH MOZZARELLA FROM SCOTTISH PASTURES
When we think of Scottish food, our minds often drift to familiar traditional comforts — oatcakes with cheese, buttery shortbread, a warming bowl of Cullen Skink. Today Scotland’s food story encompasses innovation, sustainability, and finding new ways to respect what the land produces.

Mozzarella is a cheese with strong associations. Sun-drenched fields, Italian buffalo, warm Mediterranean air. It’s not a product many people instinctively connect with Scotland.

And yet, in Fife, just a short distance from the North Sea, mozzarella is being made that challenges those assumptions — not by imitation, but by adaptation. At The Buffalo Farm, Scottish water buffalo produce milk that is rich, distinctive and perfectly suited to fresh cheese. The result is Scottish Buffalo Mozzarella — a product that feels both surprising and entirely logical once you understand the story behind it.

Scotland’s food scene is quietly undergoing a revolution — and it tastes incredible.

From scallops traced to specific coastal waters to chefs who know their farmers by name, provenance here isn’t a buzzword — it’s a promise. Add sustainability, zero-waste kitchens, and centuries-old traditions given fresh life, and you’ve got something special.

This isn’t just farm-to-table. It’s sea-to-plate and moor-to-door.
Welcome to the new Taste of Scotland — understated, thoughtful, and absolutely delicious.

What a treat! It was a lunch to remember when I happened to see a small pot of Cullen Skink on the Asda shelves in Larbert. Thirty minutes later I was enjoying one of the tastiest soups I've had for a long time. Accompanied by some crusty bread, this small pot of Downies Cullen Skink was a perfect lunch. Made with smoked haddock, potatoes, milk and cream, it was filling, nourishing and extremely taste. Thank you Downies!
