🎸✨ Remembering Marc Bolan — 16 September 1977

Today marks 49 years since we lost Marc Bolan, the charismatic frontman of T. Rex and one of the defining figures of glam rock.

With his flamboyant style, distinctive voice and unforgettable songs like Get It On, Metal Guru, Telegram Sam and 20th Century Boy, Bolan left an enormous mark on British music — all before he was even 30.

Gone far too soon, but his music and influence live on. ✨

🎶 What’s your favourite Marc Bolan or T. Rex track?

Remembering T. Rex frontman and glam rock pioneer, Marc Bolan, who tragically died in a car crash 49 years ago today on 16th September 1977. He was just two weeks shy of his 30th birthday.

📮🎸 Music history meets the postbox!

Royal Mail are celebrating Duran Duran with a brand-new collection of iconic album stamps—and yes, Seven and the Ragged Tiger is in there! 🐯😉

A pretty special one for us at The Ragged Tiger! 😎

Following in the hallowed footsteps of The Beatles, Queen, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, Iron Maiden, AC/DC and The Who, 80s music icons Duran Duran are the latest band to be honoured by Royal Mail with a set of 12 stamps.

The main set of stamps feature eight iconic album covers from Duran Duran's celebrated career from their self-titled 1981 debut 'Duran Duran' through to 2021’s 'Future Past'.

A further four stamps, presented in a miniature sheet, celebrate Duran Duran's live performances.

David Gold, Director of External Affairs and Policy, Royal Mail, said: "From iconic album artwork to unforgettable live performances, these stamps capture elements of the band's remarkable creative journey while recognising their lasting impact on music and popular culture.

"We are delighted to honour Duran Duran as one of Britain's most successful bands and are thrilled to celebrate their contribution with this collection of stamps."

Positive news for grassroots music!

The Government has announced a 20% reduction in business rates for pubs, clubs and live music venues in England from next April.

Grassroots venues are where countless artists begin their journey. They're an essential part of the UK's music scene, giving emerging musicians the opportunity to perform, grow and connect with audiences.
Any support that helps keep these venues open is good news for live music.

Let's hope it's a positive step towards securing the future of live music across the UK. 🐯
