"Atlantic Coast Express"

Here's a recreation of a type 8 Atlantic coast express headboard as seen carried on 143617 during the tarka valley railway ACE Centenary event earlier in the year

This headboard existed but was never used.

Here is an experimental headboard that I have recently recreated for the “Devon Belle”, which ultimately did not see service.
Painted green and unlike the ACE version it was not designed to be worn across the smokebox door. It had no influence on Southern Railway headboard policy.
The second photograph shows Orient Line wearing the headboard for a visual inspection at Nine Elms on 16 May 1951.
