Being a self taught graphic artist meant I used to spend days drawing concepts, like this.

It was just part of my process.
It didn't feel like a waste of time as I was developing some skill as a concept artist / designer.
All the designs would end up on the cutting room floor.

Now the same process takes minutes using Ai, How do I now recoup that lost revenue? I get that people should not expect to pay for the time it takes necessarily, but it still feels like we are taking short cuts that strip value from the industry.

I think its time I throw in the towel The new Ai is just way better and its fast. no more human made graphic assets required.

Looking back over the last few years to the job I've enjoyed most, and its probably not what you would think. (Technical line drawings) 😜

Although it was challenging at times having to use an old version of Affinity's software while the publishers worked in Adobes software, I still enjoyed the process of taking the rough sketch provided and turning into a clean looking line drawing with basic annotation.

Things are moving fast in todays digital world. I used to make my own backgrounds and textures in blender, stuff like this would take half an hour to produce, and might only get used for a small part of one project.
Now whole images are created in less than a minute.

Its taken us a long time to pick the print that would best capture Skye's character. Lets hope it turns out looking as good as this digital render.
