Week 7: The Final Countdown to the Big Screen! 🎬
We had a massive full day of filming and editing for Week 7 of our P7 Film Project, Every single heist group pushed through a huge amount of scenes and have now officially moved into post-production.

Our filmmakers have just a few final green screen shots left to capture before we dive 100% into the final stage of editing—polishing their movies with seamless transitions, special effects, comedic sound effects, and background music.

What stood out the most today was the incredible teamwork. Not only did everyone smash it within their own heist groups, but they were also jumping in to help other crews with filming and editing. True professionals!

Next week is our final session together before the grand showcase at their graduation! We can’t wait to see the final cut of these brilliant films.

PREMISES WANTED: Help Snapcut Media Academy Find a Home in Galashiels! 🎥

We are Snapcut Media Academy a brand-new social enterprise dedicated to teaching filmmaking and editing skills through weekly kids' clubs and school workshops. Now, we just need the perfect space right here in Galashiels as our hub and to store equipment in.

We are actively seeking a commercial property to rent on an initial 12–24 month lease to get us started.

Week 6: Calling Action & Cutting Footage! 🎬
We went straight into full gear for Week 6 of our P7 Film Project, diving deep into both production and the editing suite!

Our crew split their focus between being active on set and taking control of post-production. This week was all about:

🎥 Capturing B-Roll – Learning how to shoot essential cutaway footage to add detail and context to their heist scenes.

💡 Studio Precision – Managing on-set lighting and recording crisp, clear audio.

🖥️ Post-Production Masters – Navigating the editing process, from structuring timelines to sourcing the perfect royalty-free music and comedic sound effects.

We also got to test out some of the brand-new equipment we’ve been able to get our hands on…more exciting news to come on this very soon!! 🤫

The level of focus, independence, and hard work these P7s are putting in is seriously impressive. They are well on their way to becoming our very first official graduates!

Lights, Camera, PRODUCTION! 🎬

There was a massive buzz throughout the school for Week 5 of our P7 Film Pilot Project! The crew officially moved out on site to film their scenes, getting hands on with some incredible studio equipment we've just managed to get our hands on (exciting news on this coming very soon!). 🤫✨

Our young filmmakers took total control of the production process today, levelling up their skills across the board:

🎥 On-Site Filming: Operating JVC Cam recorders and framing their heist scenes.

🎤 Pro Audio: Mastering boom mics, H4 audio recorders, and managing crisp audio levels.

Studio Rehearsals: Nailing lines on the teleprompter/auto-cue and performing on the green screen.

🖥️ Post-Production: Diving straight into Mac products, Final Cut Pro, and CapCut to select footage, start editing, and plan out their sound effects and cutaways.

The focus, creativity, and energy on set today was unmatched. The team is fully prepped and ready to smash out more filming and editing next week as these productions really start coming together!

Week 4 of our P7 Film Pilot Project: Our young filmmakers officially took control of the studio today as the green screens and professional gear came out in full force.

The class got hands on experience mastering the technical side of things, including:
💡 Studio Lighting – Positioning softboxes and LED panels for the perfect shot.
🎙️ Audio & Sound – Setting up microphones and managing crisp sound levels.
🎬 Directing & Acting – Practicing scripts, directing peers, and getting confident in front of the camera.

Some groups even stepped up to rehearse their scripts and film their very first teaser scenes!

The real countdown begins now. Next week, full production starts as we dive straight into filming their heist movies. From there, we’ll be moving right into post-production. Teaching the crew how to key out green screens, edit their clips, and add voice overs, sound effects, and cutaway shots.

The talent and focus in this room is incredible. Stay tuned to see their final films come to life! 🎥

Lights, Camera, GREEN SCREEN! 🎬💚

Week 3 of our P7 Film Project was a total game-changer! Our young filmmakers officially leveled up their production skills today.

From mastering lavalier mics and studio lighting to navigating teleprompters, the class is quickly becoming a pro-level crew. 🎤💡

We spent the session developing our "Heist" scripts and choosing the perfect digital backgrounds for their green screen sequences. The vision is coming together, and the students are officially ready to shout "ACTION" as filming begins next week!

MISSION DEBRIEF: Phase 2 is Underway!

P7 agents took their filmmaking skills to the next level this week. After mastering camera angles and the plot in Week 1, the "Operation P7" dossiers were officially opened! 📂✨

The classroom was buzzing as crews split into specialized roles - from Masterminds to Tech Whizzes to bring their "heist" plots to life. We saw:

📝 Scriptwriting: Crafting the perfect dialogue.

🎨 Storyboarding: Visualising every Dutch tilt and slow-mo "cool walk."

🎬 Tech Prep: Testing audio recordings, and learning how to make their own sound effects.

The level of detail in these storyboards is incredible! Stay tuned to see these missions move from the page to the screen. 🎥🤫
