If you’ve been in my life longer than a couple of weeks, you’ll know that if any random s**t is gonna happen to anyone - it’s gonna be me. 🤦‍♀️

We literally only went out for shoes. And we came home with an elderly man, his dog Oscar and a valuable business lesson for us all.

I thought it would be funny to ask ChatGPT why small business owners still need me if they now have AI.

Because the truth is, AI can do a LOT of things. (Including creating a video of my husband chucking my dad through our living room wall because he farted next to him...) 🤦‍♀️

But there are also a lot of things it can't do (which it openly admitted to when I asked it the question)

My favourite things it pointed out were:

- "Sit opposite & pull your story out of you over a coffee"
- "Get genuinely excited about your weird business idea"
- "Challenge you" (have you noticed you are ALWAYS right?!)
- "Make you take action" (you can ask it if you should do something as many times as you want but it ain't gonna check you've done what you said you're going to)

Yes AI is wonderful and has brought a whole new way of working to the table.

But - in it's words not mine:

"I'm very clever.

But Joanne is significantly better at dealing with humans.”

That's a compliment I'll happily take!!😏

This podcast episode is gonna get me in trouble...🤣

As I was folding a basket of washing that I'd been avoiding for 3 days, attempting to pair Eden's socks and dodge Dave's underwear, I realised something.

Everyone has a particular style in a relationship - which you can see evidence of throughout your dating history.

And I reckon the kind of partner you are is probably the kind of business owner you are too.

If you're a people pleaser in relationships, are you also bending over backwards for your customers or clients?

If you're the all-guns-blazing type who is planning their wedding after the first date and picking out your kids names - do you rush into things in your business too?

If you struggle with communication, do you avoid showing up on your socials or leave awkward emails sitting for longer than you should?

So I recorded a podcast episode exploring the strange similarities between relationship styles and business styles. I genuinely think I'm onto something here...

Don't you just love it when your neighbour decides to start drilling the ONE time you decide to record a reel outside in the sun?! 😬 🤣

I thought this would be easier than designing a fancy post to tell you my news but it really wasnt..🤣

Anyhoo! The most important points made in this video were:

1. My kid's at the park.
2. I'm in the sun with a brew.
3. I'm going to be building amazing websites from September that will help get your business found, not just on Google, but more importantly- on AI platforms too.

Because the way people are searching for what they want is changing and if you're website isn't AI ready, you're gonna get left behind.

Meet Laura 💛 Kids yoga teacher, first-time-mum-to-be and genuinely one of the nicest ladies I ever worked with 🫶

Laura came to me a few months ago as she was suffering from a severe case of SBPS (Small Business Paralysis Syndrome - yep, totally made that name up but it's a REAL thing!!) She had so much going on in her wonderful business but didn't know what to focus on.

However - we knew two things for sure:
1) that she has a truly refreshing outlook on what children actually need to thrive - discovered after years of experience as a primary school teacher (and seeing kids governed by too many rules and too much pressure).

2) she was BORN to teach yoga to other adults who also share the same belief about kids needing movement, creativity and tools to regulate their emotions.

SO! We decided to work on getting the word out there about her amazing course that gives adults a fully accredited qualification needed to start teaching children’s yoga classes.

I helped Laura with:

- optimising the important pages of her website - with a new design and content so she could get found by people searching for what she does

- a bank of branded, ready made social media templates to promote her course (and business!) so all she had to do was post them

- an Instagram refresh - bio rewrite, highlights and 3 pinned posts to communicate clearly to visitors who she is and what she does

- an email campaign to send to her audience to promote her course

- a reel voiceover script for a social media ad to bring her content to life

- 4 week posting schedule to get her started!

And within a couple of weeks, Laura got an enquiry from the form we set up on her website 🙏

It turns out the REAL superhero move for you in 2026 is sorting your website out so it's found in AI searches.

Yep - people aren’t just scrolling Google anymore (ffs..) They’re asking AI for answers (just like me and you).

Typing things like:
“Who should I use?” and “What’s the best..."

So May is officially all about making sure your business is AI ready! 🦸‍♀️

GPT, voice search, AI tools…alllll of it.
Because if your website isn’t set up to answer the questions people are asking clearly enough then you ain't gonna show up I'm afraid.

It's less about having a website that looks pretty and ALL about having one that actually gets you found.

Why do you feel so bloody busy all the time but your bank account tells a very different story??

I spent the first 2 years of this business faffing around with my brand colours, logo, creating all the content and posting in all the places..only to STILL have no money (and definitely no time left either to do anything else).

I was about to quit because I literally couldn't do any more than I was. I had never worked so hard and not been paid (apart from being a mother...hardest job going 🤣..)

But never one to go down without a fight, I decided to do exactly what I did when I started my first successful business, Vintage Twee.

Go riiiiiight back to basics and start at the beginning. Be clear about what I was offering (and what I was good at!), make sure I could be found when people typed what they were looking for into Google and be so easy to be contacted that there was no excuse not to get in touch.

That's it.

And before I knew it, someone had filled in the Contact Form on my website - the first one in 2 years! 🎉

And then someone else did it again a week later.
And then someone phoned me.
Another person picked up my leaflet in the local markethall.

We often spend all our time on things that we THINK we should be doing and little (if any!) time on the things that we NEED to be doing.

If you're feeling like I was and on the verge of throwing in the towel, please don't. There's probably so much that you havent even done yet that could turn things around for you.

You can't build a house without the proper foundations. It's exhausting and it will never stay up.

What happens when you decide to record a podcast on the way home from the dentist?! Well, quite a lot actually.

Between crazed taxi drivers, people who can't use roundabouts and a LOT of dribbling (I was still totally numb from my filling), I managed to talk about the importance of taking notice of signs that might be right in front of you when it comes to your business.
