How to capture food photography the More Creative way! ๐ธ๐ฅ
Get Inspired - Do your research on what's already out there and figure out what you like / dislike about certain images or styles. Paul loved the aesthetic of Waitrose magazines - the images were bold, contrasty and put the ingredients at the forefront of their imagery. We were keen to emulate something similar, whilst leaving plenty of room for imagination for the people viewing the images.
Work with your location and setting - For this shoot, we made note of earthy tones of the kitchen, picking outfits to compliment the setting & picked meals with bright and vibrant colours. Get rid of any unnecessary distractions from the frame, but make sure to have the setting feel authentic.
Use natural lighting - Capturing food in natural lighting is a skill & one to spend some time working on. Using natural lighting is our favourite way to capture food photography, if the opportunity is there. Shooting near a window allowed the shadows fall softly, keeping the styling minimal and the scene well lit. We made sure to make the most of the morning light in this shoot too.
Ultimately, when itโs organic, itโs real, and thatโs what makes people hungry for more.
