Do you know I am on other social media platforms?!

I mean who isn't these days but I wanted to shout specifically about my instagram account because this year, a good amount of my focus is going on there.

What is 6tf long and the biggest conversation blocker at exhibitions?

The table...

It is one of those things everyone is given and we are told to utilise it properly but is it really that helpful... I think not.

The table for me can be the hardest part to dress and make it look attractive but it also creates a barrier between you and some awesome conversations.

I have seen the table used as a seat...
I have seen it used as a office desk... (one of my biggest bug bares btw)
I have seen them used really really well too 🥳 but rarely the case
I have seen some get rid of it all together!

A few tips to help you make the most of the space:

1. Use height to your advantage
Keeping information flat to the table helps no one see it from a distance and it creates a level of variation helping hold attention.

2. Keep your challenges/interactive/merch/takeaways relevant
Yes, everyone will sign up for an exciting free 'thing' but you don't want to speak to everyone! By making the giveaway relevant it starts to qualify your leads before you even pick up the phone.

3. Bespoke table clothes
If you want to use the table but have nothing to put on it, design the cloth in a way that demonstrates a key thing about your business. Use it as a tool not just something to cover the surface.

Bonus Challenge!
I dare you to flip the table all together... get rid of it and do something different with the space. Bring in a relevant prop or design your stand in a way that invites people to you without the damn thing getting in the way.

Over the last week or so you will have seen that I have been talking about how different types of people show up and how the 5 areas I focus on compare for each of them.

The areas I look at are:

Purpose - Why you’re actually there

Messaging - How clearly you communicate what you do and who you help

Design - How that shows up visually

Visibility - What happens surrounding before, during and after the event

Action - What you do with the opportunities created and what do you want them to do

Most people don’t struggle with all 5 areas unless they are just starting out and never considered attending an event before but there is a high chance one or a few are missing, which won't be obvious unless it's pointed out.
