How have you been keeping busy during isolation? 🌈

Our family feels extremely grateful to be living on our house boat at this strange and difficult time 🛳 The views are stunning 🤩 and despite not having a garden, we have plenty of open space to enjoy within the marina 🌳 My daughter Darcy and I take a walk each day to collect kindling for our fire 🔥 and we spend time on the roof playing, reading and completing school work 📚 We have even installed a paddling pool up there! 😆💦 I complete work for my clients in our wheelhouse office (which turns into a bar at night!)🍷🍺

Are you looking for ways to help your local community during the ? Why not donate via your business! Two of my wonderful clients have done just this! 😊

Zara Indian Cuisine Shelford have donated their delicious Indian meals 😋 to Jimmy's Cambridge, who for over 20 years have been providing help for the homeless in Cambridge, and to Arthur Rank Hospice Charity who support people in Cambridgeshire living with an advanced serious illness or a life-limiting condition and those who need end-of-life care. They also delivered meals to the NHS staff at the N Wards at Addenbrooke's Hospital. Their kindness even made it in the Cambridge Independent! 📰

My other client, Cambridge House of Beauty 💅 donated some goody bags containing a selection of Clarins & Guinot face and body care, hydrating lip balms, mascaras and M&S Cherry Liquers to the fantastic NHS staff Royal Papworth Hospital! They didn't forget the male staff and included some trial size men’s skincare too! 😉

Some lovely treats to brighten their day and a "Thank you" to show how the local commuity appreciates them! 🌈🙏💙

If you are a small business and have had to close due to the COVID-19 outbreak, don't go radio silent on your social media pages! 🤐 Stay in touch with your followers and loyal customers and reassure them that you're still there, and will be back 😊 You may not be able to share any business news, updates, promotions or offers, but what you can do is communicate with them and ask how they are, how they're coping in isolation, what they are doing to entertain themselves and if they have any good-news stories to share 💬 Give them an insight into your day to day activities too - share a picture of your workspace 💻 a project you are undertaking 🖼 a snapshot of you homeschooling your kids 👩‍🎓 (or any activities you are doing to keep them amused!) or the sights you have photographed on your daily walk 📸🌸🐞 Ask your employees to send you pictures of what they are up to also. People love to see the human element of a business and behind the scenes. So many people are scrolling through social media at the moment so take the opportunity to have a 2-way conversation with your followers! Be social! I'm carrying on with my business, busy communicating on behalf of all my clients. I am extremely grateful to have outside space to get some fresh air each day, even if it's just a quick cuppa and relax in a deckchair on top of our house boat - the views are stunning and the feeling of claustrophobia is easing as our household gets used to our new (and temporary) routine. It’s half term which always makes it tricky to manage my work load 😬 But Darcy was very well behaved this afternoon whilst I did a few hours work, so she’s been rewarded with a trip to soft play to blow off some steam whilst I enjoy a coffee ☕️ If you own your own business and have little ones off school this week, I hope you’re not finding it too difficult to manage your time and are enjoying some time off with them 💚❤️

The great thing about living on a boat is that you are forced to be imaginitive when creating multi-functional space in small areas. That's why we decided to add a bar 🍷🍸🍺 and "dance floor" 💃🕺 to the other side of our wheelhouse office! (we're waiting for our disco ball to arrive 😂) Its 5pm and it's almost time to shut the laptop. Can't wait to spend the evening in the "Wheelhouse Bar and Grill" tonight 😆

Can you tell my boyfriend and I have been working from home today? 😂🙈☕☕☕☕☕To be honest, as much as I'm a tea addict, I didn't really want this many! It was just an excuse to get up off my chair and take a break from my laptop screen for a few minutes. Oh, and the constant jibes from my partner such as "Don't worry, I'll come and replace the fuse in the kettle in a minute" 😉 and "Are you boiling a pan of water?" when he had mentioned tea but couldn't hear the kettle boiling 😏 And as beautiful as the cups are (Fox & Ivy from Tesco), they are actually not dishwasher safe 🙄 so it looks like I've got another job to do....... ☕💦

I've been very quiet on this page for a few months, and that's because there have been HUGE changes in my life! 😊 I am now living on the water in a Dutch Barge with my boyfriend! 🚢⚓💦 It was built in 1899 and was actually sea-going originally. We transported it over from Holland and have spent months renovating it 😅🛠 We have now moved onto converting the wheelhouse which is going to be our new office space! Just look at the view! 😍 I'm so excited to see it finished and to spend my first day in there overlooking the water whilst working for my JC Consulting clients. I'll upload some more pictures once it's finished 📸

I hope you have had a relaxing weekend, and that your business hasn't encroached on your down-time too much....?

I've made some very big decisions over the weekend with regards to how I run my business. I did this in order to reduce stress and to remind myself why I went freelance in the first place. I have also made some really exciting decisions with regards to my personal situation which I know will enrich my life and will make me and my family extremely happy!

Today I am very lucky to be working with Jonny and Andrew at Banisters Super Organic from their office at beautiful Hartford Marina ⛵ Every time I visit them, the sun shines 😎 It's like the Marina has it's very own micro-climate! ☀ Stunning isn't it? 😍
