Isle of Wight Fostering

Isle of Wight Fostering We offer information about the Isle of Wight Fostering service. Interested in fostering? Get in touch!

Every year, children on the Isle of Wight will require foster carers. Whether their parents have been taken ill, find themselves unable to cope with the demands of childcare, or through more tragic circumstances, these children need your help. Foster carers will take children into their own home for a temporary period - a month, a year or sometimes longer - to help them thrive, with the help of a

specialist team, in a caring and a safe environment and help them build their future. As an IOW foster carer, you will be given the opportunity to provide a secure and loving home for a child that needs change and direction. You will change the lives of children within your local community, and they will change yours, too. For further information on the Isle of Wight Council's Foster Care services, including the information you will need regarding becoming a foster carer, please visit our website:

Happy Pride Month from The Fostering Network 🌈 🙌

This June, we proudly stand with our LGBTQ+ fostering community - foster carers, kinship carers, children, young people, and allies. Diversity brings the fostering community together, and we’ll be celebrating love, identity, and belonging throughout Pride Month and beyond!

If you are a foster carer supporting an LGBTQ+ child or young person, here are some useful resources where you can find advice, information, and support:

• LGBTQ+ Youth in Care has collected lots of supportive resources, including documents and videos ➡️ https://www.lgbtyouthincare.com/

• Become has a range of resources for LGBTQ+ young people in care, including videos, helplines, and more ➡️ https://becomecharity.org.uk/get-information/resources/resources-for-lgbtq-young-people-in-care/

• The Proud Trust offers information and support for carers, as well as LGBTQ+ and questioning young people ➡️ https://bit.ly/3whOdpJ

Just scrolling? Same.

“Safe” can feel like a big word. But sometimes it looks like this:
A place to sit, something to eat, and someone who cares.

You do not have to know everything yet.

Let the thought sit for a moment and when you are ready, give us a call.
