THE LATEST NEWS 🗞 ON HASHTAGS #
Only in July, Instagram recommended using up to 30 # on a post, with the recommended average being around 15 #. And now, (as of last week) the latest tip is to keep the number of hashtags between 3-5 which is a massive bombshell! 💣 🥴😱
And why is this you may wonder 💭 , is there any harm or penalty for using more or carrying on in the same way???
Instagram is now saying that using too many hashtags such as 10 – 20, won’t help get additional distribution…hmm 💭 now that is questionable.
If we look at how work, we select the ones most relevant to our posts and stories to strengthen us being found in searches for those hashtags. So, if I add 10 hashtags on this post, I may appear in up to 10 # searches. No more, no less.
If I use 3 #, that means I only have the chance of appearing in 3 searches. So, its pretty simple to work out, the more you use, the more chance you have of being found (or was) until this confusing 🤔 announcement.
We all know that each we use must be relevant or niche to your business or brand.
Just a few things to bear in mind, the ‘suggestion’ or ‘recommendation’ is only on Instagram’s CREATOR PROFILE, AND NOT ON their BUSINESS PAGE PROFILE.
Interestingly, Instagram also recently said help categorise keyword search. Meaning the better your hashtags are, combined with your caption, content and bio, the more searches you will appear in.
So, it appears that the more you use is BETTER!!? So, what is the answer? Instagram will not stop you from using more than 3 – 5 hashtags, so the best piece of advice is to test. Really test what works for your business, what has been working and what works best in the future?
I plan to run my own tests (testing 15 # today) and may even write a blog 📰 with the results! 🧐🧪👩🔬
What do you think? Will you now use 3 – 5 # or continue using in the same way? Let me know! 📧👏
