imperfect index is a call to redirect graphic design’s established norms and defaults. The second volume weaves together plural, political, and porous perspectives, exploring how queerness, class, race, care, and spirituality intersect with design practice. Built on resistance and tenderness, it reimagines what design education and publishing can be.

As its title suggests, imperfect index embraces imperfection as strength, a living archive that values care over ego. Initiated by and .parke , the project extends beyond print through annual live events and open calls, fostering dialogue around reimagining contemporary graphic design.

Volume 02 features contributions from Y Papur Wales’ Ol Gabe, OOMK’s Rose Nordin, Queer.Archive.Work’s Paul Soulellis, Sticky Fingers Publishing’s Kaiya Waerea, and more. The publication gathers essays, transcripts, and design work that challenge graphic design’s traditional boundaries, addressing nationality, class, community, non-human perspectives, and spirituality.

Excited to announce that our latest publication ‘Welcome to the UK’, conceptualised by .zip is now available on our website!

Welcome to the UK is a publication and ongoing art project that brings together the voices of people living in the UK on visas. Through poems, writings, reviews, and visual works, it documents their emotional landscapes, the overwhelm, uncertainty, transitions, and reflections that come with navigating borders.

At its heart is a stack of papers; stories, sketches, BRPs, and boarding passes that echo the everyday reality of visa holders. Together, they question systems of governance, belonging, and the often-invisible lines that shape our movement and identity.

Editor/Producer: Rosy Leake
Concept: Jiaoyang
Contributions: Rory, Peggy Peiting Huang, Wenxuan Chen

When we first started Sold Out Publishing and .b (our design studio) it was was designers and researchers like from .books and Cheryl Buckley who laid down a path that felt intentional, expansive, and deeply thoughtful. Pushing us to imagine and design beyond the canon. Their work helped shape the values and ethos that guide so much of what we do at Plan B and Sold Out Publishing.

So when we had the honour of welcoming them to speak at our Book Fair, it was a real full-circle (and slightly fan-girl!) moment. A milestone we’ll always celebrate. Grateful for moments like these. ✨
