👋 BYE PLASTIC! I received my limited edition collab from x (& also checked the display in store) and I love it! 🙋🏻‍♀️ I helped Kankan's founders with their marketing planning and when they told me about this collaboration, my heart went BOOM!

💓 I'm genuinely a big fan of both of these east London-based brands, which make products that are good for the planet and help consumers shift their habits towards a more sustainable lifestyle. 💦 Kankan makes refillable body wash and handwash, while LF Markey makes ethical, beautiful, workwear-inspired clothes. ( I'm wearing my civil wedding boilersuit in this pic 👰🏻‍♀️😜)

🌞 Their new collab is a starter set in Kankan's glass 'Forever Bottle' wrapped in LF Markey's bright and colourful sun print. It's a keepsake to be refilled time and time again that's guaranteed to bring you sunny, feel-good vibes in your kitchen or bathroom. You can choose a Kankan botanical soap of your choice and one tree will be planted for every limited edition set sold :)

I highly encourage you to follow and support independent and local businesses, especially those who do good for the community and the planet.

❣️I honestly believe that habits are the key to success. And what I mean by success is sustainable growth and strong marketing foundations and functions.

When you start a business and decide to finally allocate some budget into your marketing activities, it’s perfectly normal to want to see results right away. You put time, effort and money into developing your marketing channels and campaigns, so you want them to show a return on investment. Well, I understand where you’re coming from, but marketing is a marathon, not a race. It takes time to build brand awareness and brand recall – and this might happen faster if you're consistent with your efforts.

People want to see themselves reflected in marketing images, stories and more – and to do that, you need a deep understanding and empathy for the people you want to reach. But stereotypes are a quick way to show your audience that you don’t really understand them – take the time and effort to avoid them at all costs. ⠀

Marketers actually have an important role to dismantle stereotypes and help make society more representative as a whole.

📊 So study your customer data to truly understand things such as gender, income level, geography and race – then go deeper.

📑 Conduct surveys to understand characteristics that aren't as easily tracked, such as someone's point of view (why not get your – hopefully diverse – team involved in this, too?)

📃 Conduct research to learn the cultural background of your audience and what's important to them, along with how their purchase journey is different from other groups.⠀

🍓 Keep it real. Remember, it's not the quantity that matters, but the quality. You might have a small audience but they might be hardcore fans that you'll easily convert to buy your products or services. 🍭 So if 500 people follow you and 40 engage with your post, be proud! That's a great engagement rate. Imagine 40 people in a cafe interacting with you and your brand – that's pretty awesome.

🌞 Rise & Shine ☯️ Here's me at Birch, in the middle of nature for a few days.

🌿 Taking some days off from client projects to slow down, reflect and chill. As a small biz owner, it can be difficult to keep juggling ongoing client work, biz plans and admin tasks on a daily basis. Here's what I plan to do during this mini retreat...

🍉 Reflect on what I've achieved during the past 6 months – my successes and mistakes.

🍋 Think about my brand missions and see if what I'm doing is aligned with my core values.

🍓 Plan where I want to take my business for the rest of the year.

🥝 Figure out what new projects I should dive into – and what unnecessary tasks I should drop.

😎 And mostly... take a break from my inbox! Read on the grass, walk in the forest, dip in the pool, eat lots of 🍨.

My brain will only have 3 tabs open this week instead of 20...and I'm ready for that!

👋 Have you also taken a short work retreat, just for yourself? Or plan to soon?

Hey, here are 5 helpful tips on how to improve your brand's transparency (and build a community at the same time).

🥝 Share your brand's core values on your website and social media pages.
🍋 Be an open book: tell your customers as much as you can about why you do what you do.
🍈 If customers raise questions, make sure to actually respond to them.
🥭 Take constructive criticism and respond in a non-judgmental way.
🥑 Encourage people to give suggestions on how to improve the brand.
