Interesting fact: Google Ads Display Network reaches 90% of internet users via 2 million websites.

Google Ads Display Network refers to visual, banner like ads that appear on websites and that are involved in the Google Ads network.

They work well because you can get the attention of customers earlier in the buying cycle. Your ads can be placed in front of potential customers before they start searching for your products, which puts your brand ahead of the game!

Conversion rates are a vital metric for all eCommerce businesses. Once you drive traffic to your store (e.g. paid ads, SEO) you need to make sure your website is able to convert that traffic into paying customers - otherwise you'll get little to no return on your ad spend, and your profit margins will suffer!

In this article, I discuss 5 simple but effective tactics that eCommerce brands can use to get started with conversion rate optimisation.

"Overall the web is pretty sloppy, but an online store can’t afford to be"
-Paul Graham (Co-Founder of Y Combinator)

I love this quote from Paul Graham because it’s brutally honest and straight to the point.

There IS a lot of low quality content littered across the web, but an online store simply cannot afford to fall into this category - not even anywhere close to it!

An online store is a key component in convincing customers to buy your products. It’s your product showroom, business card and customer sales representative all wrapped in one.

If your online store doesn’t look professional and trustworthy, then why would customers want to buy from you over your competitors?

A well designed, well optimised online store is vital to the success of an eCommerce brand. To help with this, I have written an eBook titled "6 VITAL Components for a Successful Online Store". Click the link below to download a copy!

Email marketing - a necessity for eCommerce!

The problem is, many eCommerce businesses know that they need email marketing, but they aren’t able to implement it properly. This means lots of money left on the table.

According to both DMA and Litmus, the average return on investment for email marketing is $42 for every $1 spent - this is huge!

The key to email marketing is the sequencing - sending the right emails at the right time to the right prospects.

Examples of email marketing to include in your mix:

1. The Welcome Email: as I’ve mentioned previously, first impressions count! This email is to introduce your brand, thank them for subscribing, and encourage them to buy (e.g. 10% off your first order).

2: The Abandoned Cart Email: this is triggered when customers add items to their cart, but don’t complete checkout. This is a VERY effective way to convert lost business.

3. The Cross-sell Email: this encourages the customer to buy a product that is closely related to the product they’re interested in, to increase their average order value.

These are just a few of many! When done correctly, it will have a huge impact on revenue for eCommerce.

Remember to stay GDPR compliant, and let customers opt in/out of emails!
