Here are 3️⃣ qualities that great business owners and accounts possess. Do you agree?

1️⃣ People who are great in business aren’t so because of what they know but because of their insatiable need to know more. They truly possess a growth mindset.

2️⃣ Many businesses fail not because they don't have a strong business skill set but because they spend their time and energy defending what they think they know. They're inflexible and stubborn.

3️⃣ Great business owners have a genuine belief and appreciation of the massive impact of getting little things done right.

As a result, when people run businesses and they begin to fail; they suddenly rely on luck, they stagnate and coast and ultimately fail.

To operate well in business, you have to be constantly engaged, inquisitive, open to learn and you definitely have to get the small things right.

πŸ’¬ What's your opinion on these 3 conditions that can be present, especially in failing businesses? Are they correct?

πŸ’‘ To be honest, this concept of leverage has been a game-changer for me as a business owner.

Many of you know, I work across two businesses. This Instagram accounts business and I work in learning and development day-to-day.

If I didn't leverage in all the areas that I've mentioned in this carousel and regularly reflect on my wellbeing, energy, and how well I'm operating then I would burn out.

I shared in an earlier IGTV how many clients I work with and how busy I am but I still have time to socialise, I visit the gym 5 times a week and I run these businesses.

I'm not a superwoman but I've had to leverage other people's skills, leverage time and resources in order to work at my best.

Many people won't do that, as they're waiting for a breakthrough in their business or their career when they can do that. And I do appreciate that but your boat can go fast, even if you just leverage your personal time and resources without any expense.

If you're suffering in silence and being a martyr, as often we do; then DM me and we can schedule a time to discuss how you can move beyond that situation.

πŸ€” Out of the FIVE leverage areas that I shared, what areas have you successfully overcome (share how in the comments) or what areas would you like to work on?

We're living in challenging times. Even if you're happy and surviving, the global political and economic environment. It's definitely VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous) times

πŸ›  Follow me for practical tips on how to build and sell digital products online and grow your business brand.

Nevertheless, using the lessons that we've learned from Covey that we should focus on our circles of control and influence (i.e. what we can change, control and influence) rather than our circle of concern.

If we're on a particular path, we need to be persistent; practice self-care, and think positively, even if it's difficult as we can feel as though we're in a VUCA world.

Once we become more aligned and develop healthy routines, mindset and practices then nothing can get our way!!

I hope this post resonates with you. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day!!

Continuous improvement, kaizen, reengineering, or re-strategising; whatever you would like to call it is something that we all should do regularly... well at least annually.

πŸ’¬ How often do you review and tweak what you do in your business? πŸ’¬

πŸ”— Click on my bio link for free and paid practical tools to grow your businesses and sell digital products online. πŸ”—

We can often get ourselves in a consistent pattern that works until it doesn't work and then it's too late.

This is a strong characteristic or stereotype of small business owners. We become comfortable and complacent, which breeds inertia and staleness.

We always need to keep things fresh and sexy (without resonating to fads or the latest shiny new thing).

We can always improve what we do and create a better experience for our clients, followers, our teams, and most importantly ourselves.

This is something that I'm practicing myself this month.

Everyone should post with a plan. What do you want me to do as a result of seeing your post.

If that's a difficult question to answer, then what's the purpose of your post?

I always believe that it's better to post consistently, than not at all. So don't let not understanding the purpose of your post dissuade you from sharing a great post.

There are tons of ways to add a simple call-to-action to any post

If you want more engagement in your comments, then make any questions asked quick, easy, and not too personal to answer.

Always ask could I answer this on someone else post? So avoid questions like:
- What's your greatest fear?
- How do you spend your time on the weekends?

Maybe ask more broadly and more impersonally
- Name one challenge that business owners face regularly.
- What's one thing that you love to do on the weekend?

Honestly, I don't always get it right. See trying below but practice makes perfect.

What's your opinion on including a call-to-action in a post?

Likes only represent awareness, we should thrive to create quality and useful posts that our followers will save and share. To top that, successful marketing and promotions are the first step in our client's journey to convert to sales.

πŸ”— Click on my bio link for free and paid practical tools to grow your businesses and sell digital products online. πŸ”—

Likes are becoming less important as Instagram often hides likes and some countries have made blanket bands on them.

A like is a vote of support though and it represents that we've produced a quality post.

However, even if we spend time creating fantastic posts; some may fail because they're not seen.

Many followers get less than 20 likes on posts and they have more than 50 posts.

Even if this isn't your main channel, you should still want to draw an audience and engage them

Some may not be bothered, then what's the point of engaging in social media marketing?

It's more than just posting content.

Yes, the BEST content wins but there's no point creating, even if you're just repurposing content from another channel. You can improve your account for 30 minutes to 1 hour per day.

We should all have a plan to increase our reach, visibility, and status online.

Our customer's journey from their awareness of your product and service to use their cart, as well as their onboarding process to our services is so important.

πŸ”— Click on my bio link for free and paid practical tools to grow your businesses and sell digital products online. πŸ”—

Many of you work or have worked with major brands who have channelled time and their budgets towards achieving a great customer experience for their brands.

Even as business owners, we should google ourselves or ask our team members, friends, or family to complete a "dummy run" to access our products and services.

When I first launched a product for this business in 2019, I ran Facebook ads for an evergreen webinar but it bombed.

I later realised through a coach that my customers had to complete more than 3 steps (clicks) to sign up for the webinar and that increased the number of abandoned carts and bounce back on my sales page.

I've signed up for coaching and other similar services, where I have to complete a long-form.

Although I believe it helps to qualify clients and those who are not committed to a service will not complete; people do have different styles in how they engage online and some valid clients may not complete it.

In the past, I haven't applied for roles if there are too many steps to go through; as it can often reflect how the organisation operates.

Many of you will relate to this quote, as I find that as most of us get older; our circles become smaller.

Many of you, I'm sure will choose who you spend your energy and your time with.

Often there will be doubters but we can quieten their noise and disregard them.

We are supposed to be the product of our five closest relationships.

The people who made up this number were more problematic in my younger days but I've noticed even recently that I've lost friends naturally or just fallen out of contact.

Yes, the pandemic has tested a number of relationships but I needed to create some distance in those relationships.

I totally agree that we should surround ourselves with positivity, those who energise and encourage us to believe in our goals; or even just to live a more happy and fulfilled life.

I hope that you have a great support system of people who are there for you.

Something which I heard a lot during those conversations were that many people don't particular like posting on IG and they prefer other social media channels.

I was reflecting on that recently and I wanted to create this post to find out why so many people use IG.

I actually prefer IG to other platforms for this particular business model but I get most of my referrals for my other "learning and development" business from LinkedIn. I tailor my usage to where my audience sits and what I prefer to use.

❓ So, it would be great to learn. Why do you post here on IG? What do you love about the platform? πŸ€”

I'm in two minds about this!

There was one weekend, where I gained tons of followers that were clearly not in my niche. Luckily, most of them were trying to do the ol' Follow-For-A-Follow thing and they unfollowed me.

In those type of instances, I think it's helpful to delete those followers as they do drive down your engagement metrics on Instagram.

Your metrics are driven down because Instagram compares the number of followers that you have, with the number of people engaging in your posts.

If you have loads of followers but low engagement and interest in what you post, then that drives down your figures.

On the other hand, engagement metrics are important because they give you an indicator about how your content is perceived, how it's landing with your audience.

However, we don't necessarily have to attach tons of value to those metrics; if you're reaching your financial targets and you're happy with the leads that you generate.

Also, our followers can be inactive for various reasons so we need to bear that in mind. I mean I was a dead follower for 6 months when I opened my account in April 2000 but never launched or posted until September 2000.

What's your opinion on Ghost Followers?

Many of you have shared that it's a struggle to come up with fresh ideas for social media posts.

πŸ”— Click on the link in my profile for free and paid practical tools to grow your businesses and sell digital products online. πŸ”—

In previous posts, I've shared how I come up with ideas here on IG. But I also use tools that share what's the latest trending topics.

Even if you follow tons of accounts, there's no guarantee that those accounts will direct you to topics that you can share that will interest your audience.

It's easier if you have a process or even know what tools you can tap into to come up with ideas.

Many of you find ideas on LinkedIn, Reddit and other social media platforms but there are tons of alternative sources.

❓ How do you feel about consistently coming up with fresh ideas for your IG posts? πŸ€”

🚨 Instagram has shared that they plan to help content creators to grow their accounts - MORE IN THE CAPTION BELOW

This is great news for us but sometimes people struggle to come up with ideas for content on social media.

πŸ›  Follow me for practical tips on how to build and sell digital products online and grow your business brand.

I ran a poll of my followers last year and many shared that they create posts solely using the current expertise. I do this most of the time too! πŸ€—

Many of you have years of experience in your field and you're qualified to the hilt and have all the necessary badges to build credibility.

To generate more content creation ideas, it's great to access external tools and websites.

Find out what are the trending topics in your area of expertise and there are tons of tools on the market.

πŸ’₯ I share some sources in my IGTV video - Evergreen Social Media post ideas.

Another way to generate ideas is via other people's content. I would never copy someone's content but usually become inspired by their call to action in their post.

I sometimes write a long comment on someone else's post and then my own comment inspires me πŸ˜‚ and becomes a full carousel.

Another way, which other content creators have shared is through YouTube or other video content.

You don't have to watch the videos at all. Read the titles and descriptions and then create content in your own words and based on your own knowledge and experience.

All these suggestions are not about copying other people's hard work, it's about using others as inspiration.

There are creators that copy but then their content becomes similar to others and it's difficult to differentiate themselves from others in their field.

❓ What other sources do you use as inspiration for content creation?
