After 7 weeks off over the summer and not wanting her to go back because I knew it would be hard. But secretly looking forward to the break because let’s face it. School is a break for us parents.. even if we have a long list of other jobs. But Thea is now back at school… for just 3.5 hours a day.

A whole year of fighting just to get her EHCP updated, for a child whose needs simply cannot be met in her current setting. Waiting for them to listen to us.. finally today they have said they are drafting the updated version.. but having her off. It’s exhausting and expensive.

And there’s no real break. I’ve got no time to even answer messages or check in with friends or family.

I can’t just bring her home, she needs entertaining.

She doesn’t want to be at home.
She wants to be at school. She wants to learn. She wants to see her friends. She wants to play.
She just can’t cope with the environment she’s currently in.

So when she comes home early, I have to try and make the rest of her day exciting. Find things to do. Plan little adventures. Keep her busy. Make sure she doesn’t feel like she’s missing out.

All while trying to meet Hugo’s needs, keep on top of the house, school, EHCPs, appointments, emails and everything else.. oh and my own mental health and needs .

I’m trying so hard to keep on top of it all.

But honestly, I’m exhausted.

We let our 5-year-old autistic daughter dress the whole family for our Aldi food shop… and let’s just say, she had a vision 😂💗

Thea was in charge of choosing what Mummy, Daddy and Hugo wore, and we had to wear whatever she picked!

Because why should a trip to Aldi be boring when you can turn it into a full-on fashion show? 😂

The best part? Wait until you see the ending! 👀
