September is its own kind of busy.

The summer events are done. The autumn ones haven't started yet. But the whole industry has come back from the August lull and the production calendars are filling fast.

This is the week where briefs land in twos and threes. Where producers we haven't heard from since June get back in touch. Where Christmas market clients start asking about printing — yes, in early September.

We love this week. The energy is back. The work is interesting. The calendar is open.

Last day of August.

Which means our August festival jobs are done, our wedding peak is winding down, and the autumn trade show briefs are landing daily.

The seasons run differently in a print studio. Summer is festivals and weddings. Autumn is trade shows. Winter is brand campaigns and Christmas activations. Spring is fashion and events ramping up.

Every quarter is somebody's busiest. We just keep printing.

This season's palettes are leaning deep and moody: oxblood, forest, charcoal, that burnt-amber autumn/winter thing everyone's reaching for. We print it rich so it reads across the room, not just up close.

The week before a big trade show is a strange thing to watch from a print studio.

Clients you haven't heard from in two months send three emails in one morning. Stand builders need files an hour after they've requested them. Pre-press becomes the busiest desk in the building. Couriers run to and from the show venue every day.

Then Monday comes, the show opens, and the calls stop. Until the next week, when it all starts again for the next show.
