Hello to new followers and to those who have been here for some years.
A quick mini intro to who I am!

I'm Adeline, a 40-something mum to 1. When I became a mum 9.5 years ago, I really struggled. Not with understanding my newborn (I had been working with families for 15 years by this point and had written accredited courses for professionals to work with newborns).

What I wasn't prepared for was the changes that happened in myself.

Loneliness, loss of identity, autoimmune responses, fatigue, stress and rage. Things I hadn't even thought could happen in postpartum. Things that were not talked about (it's better now, but still has a long way to go).

It wasn't until lockdown (3.5 years after giving birth) that I decided to do something about it all. I changed my diet, worked on my physical strength and mental health. I prioritised looking after myself. And it was wonderful.

Since then, I opened The New Parent Company, retrained as a postpartum doula, which aligned so much more with the support I believe every parent should have, and have learned so much about lots of aspects of the pre and postpartum period. I have trained with some incredible people and continue to learn everyday.

The past year in particular has elevated my role and I have some exciting news things to share later this year. I can't wait!

Highlighting some incredible companies I have trained with and who have given me many opportunities over the past 5 years:

Life with a newborn is equal parts beautiful and exhausting. The days move slowly and quickly all at once, and I've learned that this season isn't about getting everything done—it's about slowing down, letting go of expectations, and being present for the little moments that might otherwise pass by unnoticed.

Learning to be kinder to yourself, to embrace the mess, the tiredness, and the uncertainty, and to remember that you don't have to do it all perfectly.

Some days feel long, but they are filled with tiny hands, sleepy cuddles, milk-drunk smiles, and moments of connection that make everything else fade into the background.

This chapter should teach you to pause, to breathe, and to appreciate the beauty in the ordinary. To soak up every snuggle, every stretch, every yawn, and every moment with this little person who is growing far too quickly. 🤍

Following yesterday’s report on sleep consultants, I want to clarify that the intention was not to discourage parents from seeking sleep support if they need it. Rather, it was to highlight concerns within an unregulated industry, where some consultants may be providing unsafe advice to vulnerable families.

If you are looking for sleep support, I would recommend seeking a professional who:

✨ Has recognised qualifications
Don’t hesitate to ask about their credentials. If you’re unsure, you can always research them further or use AI tools to help interpret what those qualifications mean—there are many different ones, and it can understandably feel confusing.

✨ Adheres to Safe Sleep Guidelines
Any advice that contradicts established safe sleep recommendations should be treated as a red flag. If this occurs, it’s best to step away. (For context, I include this expectation in my own client contracts—it may be something worth checking before working with a consultant.)
* There is a free downloadable Safe Sleep and Safe Bed Sharing PDF in the link in my bio

✨ Respects your parenting approach
A good professional will work with your values and choices. You should never feel pressured into doing something you’re uncomfortable with. Your baby, your decisions.

✨ Supports what works for your family
Ultimately, the right approach is the one that feels safe, sustainable, and appropriate for your individual family.

Follow your gut always.

Taking a look at ways we can be conscious of our planet as parents on World Earth Day 🌎

1. Reusable Nappies - are nappies that get washed and reused rather than thrown away. A number of regional council authorities provide vouchers, cashback or kit incentives to encourage residents to move away from disposable nappies, but these are not available in every region, and their availability varies widely. have info on their website to not only help you learn how to use reusable nappies and brands to buy, but also helps you to see what is available to you where you live!

2. Reusable Wipes - Like the nappies, these are washed and reused. We love

3. Reusable Period Pants - For postpartum and for anytime as a menstruating woman - lots of brands - Cheeky Wipes sell them, and are fantastic too

4. Buying from brands whose ethos is deep in sustainability - brands such as whose changing bags are made from recycled materials. Or whose beautiful toys are built to last and are a brand that recycles 90 percent of their materials and hope to achieve net zero carbon in all steps of their supply chain by 2030.
Other conscious brands we love eco range and

5. Secondhand or Borrowed Clothing - secondhand sales happen regularly. The company also offers a clothing rental service for children aged 0-3 years.

Also try secondhand baby sales close to you, local Facebook & WhatsApp buy & sale groups, alongside the usual and

Secondhand is great! However the things you should always buy new are mattresses and car seats
