Nyhavn Copenhagen in winter colour Inspo anyone? Burnt orange rooftops, golden yellow walls, deep harbour blue and almost-black shadows. Proof that bold colour doesn’t need to shout.

Finally got this one out of the drafts folder and into the portfolio.

Past work with Wellington City Council has covered everything from reports and presentations to infographics and one-page communication plans. A lot of information, a lot of different audiences, and plenty of opportunities to make things clearer, easier to navigate and a little more interesting.

Thought Gremlins on AI - you know, thoughts that are fed by news and constant developments, little gremlins that occasionally keep you up at night.

Last month I went along to Rocketspark’s Creative Freedom Brunch in Wellington. There is something special about being in a room full of creatives who are navigating familiar challenges, asking similar questions and trying to make good work while the world keeps throwing new technology at us. Creative brains in one room can be a wonderful thing. Ideas bounce around, sparks fly, conversations take unexpected turns, and someone eventually raises the topic everyone has been quietly (or not quietly) side-eyeing.

Danish winter colour Inspo anyone? Blue, but make it dramatic. Cobalt, periwinkle, violet and soft lavender pulled from an abundance of flowers. Colour inspiration was everywhere in Denmark, including this shop front.

Clearly a glitch in Lightroom, but I actually love the glitch! Some double exposures happening in there and odd colour choices for what was a very dark scene at the candlelit concert a while ago.

I need to do something with these… but what? Ideas?

Danish winter colour Inspo anyone? I had never seen a snowberry before. Nature does neutrals rather well. Deep charcoal, mushroom grey, weathered brown, soft taupe and snowy white. A quiet palette with plenty of depth.

It’s been a while since I shared some good ol' rejects. Here are a few of the almosts, maybes and nope-not-that-ones from the process of creating a logo for a small family-owned joinery business.

Rejected concepts have a job to do, though. They show the thinking that gets you to the right answer.

Winter in Denmark, in five colours. It hits differently to a New Zealand winter. Icy blue skies, weathered stone, soft cream and the warmest hint of a dark peach. Quiet, calm and beautifully understated. Drool.
