Autumn 🍂 definitely felt in the air last night and insight shows that people on Pinterest are already planning for Christmas!

If you’re considering investing in Pinterest advertising to support Christmas sales or want to focus on your Pinterest profile early definitely adds up!

The chart shows indexed festive season searches on Pinterest, compared to a “leading search engine”. People go to Pinterest first and the majority of sales influenced by Pinterest are complete by Cyber Monday. Last year 60% of sales happened by that time.

Insight shows brands who start their festive campaigns earlier see better results in conversions and sales uplift.

If you’d like more information on the research do let me know.

Driving purchases via Pinterest 📌

Shopping on Pinterest is getting more inspiring and one way to drive purchases on the platform is to ‘set up shop’.

Here’s what you need to do:

1. Install the Pinterest tag:
The Pinterest tag is a piece of code you put on your website to gather insights on your conversions; you can then use it to build audiences to target based on actions they’ve taken on your site.

2. Upload your catalogue:
Catalogues allow you to upload a data source & create product pins at scale. Product pins showcase your products to people who are looking for ideas & things to buy on Pinterest.

3. Become a verified merchant:
The verified merchant programme helps people on Pinterest discover & buy from vetted brands. As a verified merchant, your pins may appear organically to people who are searching for products & shopping on Pinterest.

If you’re on Shopify this is fairly straightforward using the Pinterest x Shopify app.

If you’d like more info or help on how to set up shop do drop me a message.

What’s working best on Instagram for engagement in 2021?

A new report released last month analysed 100 million Instagram posts shared across one million users to uncover trends about engagement and what’s working in 2021.

Here’s some of the findings:

: The sweet spot for caption lengths to get the most engagement is between 500–1,000 and 1,000–2,000 characters range

: Carousel posts overtook both single image and video posts as the most engaging type of post this year, with 62 likes and five comments as the norm

: Posts with a tagged location result in 79% higher engagement than posts without a tagged location

: In the UK the best time to post for engagement is between 6-7am and again at 6pm, the worst time is noon

: The most engaging tagged Instagram accounts are beauty and cosmetic related

: 53.6% of Instagram followers have less than 1,000 followers

If you’re a data geek (like me!) and would like to read the full report it can be easily found by googling ‘Mention X Hubspot Instagram engagement report’.

Let me know if you test any of the findings.

The future of e-commerce is conversational!

Last week at their F8 conference Facebook announced that Instagram’s new Messenger API will be rolling out to all businesses, following its beta testing with brands such as H&M and L’Oreal.

So what is it?

API is the acronym for Application Programming Interface, which is a software intermediary that essentially allows two applications to talk to each other.

With the IG Messenger API you’ll be able to integrate Instagram’s messaging tools with your own existing systems.

The expected rollout for businesses is as follows:

: Phase 1 (now) Instagram accounts with more than 10K followers and less than 100K followers

: Phase 2 (July 2021): Instagram accounts with between 1K and 100K

:Phase 3 (end of Q3): All remaining accounts

Why use it?
: #1 It’ll increase sales

After integrating the new API, Kiehl’s reported a 30% increase in qualified leads compared to other channels and a 20% conversion rate from consultation to sales (source: Later)

By responding to FAQs and making product recommendations in DMs, you can drive traffic directly to your site — creating an easy shopping experience for your community

: #2 It’ll help you be more efficient (saving time!)

: #3 It’ll help you build trust and loyalty

With the Instagram Messenger API, you can create automated replies to make it easier to communicate with current (and potential customers).

Responding quickly to DMs with a personal touch can help build relationships with your community.

While the Messenger API for Instagram is an advanced feature, it’s worth considering it as your business grows.

Integrating messaging tools can be a great way to drive traffic to your site, answer customer questions, and connect with your community.

Drop me a note if you’d like more info.

📌 Shopify x Pinterest 📌

Do you have a Shopify site? Did you know that Shopify now have a Pinterest app allowing you to quickly upload your product catalogue and publish Pins for products you’re selling on Shopify?

Once you've uploaded your catalogue, people on Pinterest can easily discover, save and buy products from your website.

Pinterest has seen a significant increase in shopping interest, with engagement on shoppable Product Pins increasing by 44% during the lockdowns.

Pinterest is also seeing growth overall, and as it further refines its usage towards eCommerce and browsing/shopping, that audience is increasingly looking to find things to buy, straight away. They’re already a warm audience!

Drop me a note if you’d like to know more.

Hello! Hope everyone is doing ok and managing the homeschooling, home and work juggle! It somehow feels tougher this time round - perhaps as we had the Spring sunshine last year! Anyone else finding that?

I know that working with some brilliant founders and businesses last year certainly helped keep me sane during homeschooling round one! It was really rewarding seeing their businesses grow through investment in digital advertising.

I have currently have space to take on one more client so if you’d like a chat to see if Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram ads are right for your business or you’d like to know more about how I could help, please do drop me a note.

Stay safe
