✨ Still soaking in the evening that was the 15th anniversary of AIM's Independent Music Awards ✨

The night was a true celebration of the creativity, innovation and resilience of the independent sector — with Gilles Peterson, Cosey Fanni Tutti, Fontaines D.C., Ezra Collective, BINA. and many more inspiring winners.

As Association of Independent Music CEO Gee Davy put it, the ceremony was “an unforgettable celebration of the creative freedom, resilience, and innovative spirit that has always defined the independent music community.”

This year was extra special for us too, as it marked our Senior Publicist Millie’s third and final Awards before heading on to new pastures. We can’t wait to see what she does next!

In an op-ed for Music Business Worldwide, Chair of the Association of Independent Music Ruth Barlow calls on the CMA to review the threat UMG’s recent wave of acquisitions poses to independents as well as the wider music ecosystem.

Amidst growing pressure on the EU from national regulators for an anti-trust investigation into the sale of Downtown Music, Ruth looks at how UMG is approaching a dangerous level of control over the digital supply chain.

The Name PR team had a busy couple of days last week, first touching down at 21Soho for FastForward's tenth anniversary conference on Tuesday. We enjoyed insightful sessions with audience development experts, a showcase featuring companies pioneering new tech and ways of working, and a keynote from ex-Spotify chief economist Will Page.

We also travelled to Bristol Beacon on Wednesday for the Association of Independent Festivals Festival Congress to catch some brilliant panels highlighting the ingenuity and resilience of the independent festival sector, and enjoyed hearing about new initiatives like the Fallow Festival Fund.

Keep an eye out for us at a music conference near you!
