Can we be honest for a second? π
Most tradespeople don't lose jobs because their work is bad. They lose them because of what happens BEFORE the job even starts.
Someone gets three quotes for their extension or roof. They ring three companies on the same afternoon. Whoever answers first, or gets back to them fastest, usually gets the job. Doesn't matter how good the other two are if they replied a day later.
Then there's the quote that goes out and... nothing. No follow-up call, no text, nothing. The customer moves on because they simply forgot about you, not because they didn't like your price. π
And the quiet killer: if you don't write down every enquiry and every quote, you never actually see how many jobs slipped through your fingers. It just feels like "business is a bit slow" some months.
Add it up on even 10 quotes a month, and you can be looking at Β£3,000 walking out the door, every single month, for reasons that have nothing to do with your workmanship. π¬
Small changes fix this fast. Reply quick, follow up twice, write it all down.
