ting your products. During almost 20 years in marketing, I have worked with a huge range of companies. Initially with restaurants, hotels and luxury holiday properties – drawing on my skills from Leith’s School of Food and Wine where I studied for a year before university. On to education where I was the Marketing Manager for a regional 6th Form College. In 2010 I studied Fine & Decorative Art & Design at Sotheby’s Institute in London which lead to working with Butchoff Antiques – Europe’s top 18th-century furniture dealer – for 6 years. I founded Wildcurrant in 2018 to offer my services to smaller companies, artists and craftsmen who need holistic marketing advice and application. Towards the end of 2019, I was invited by Sarah Hamilton, founder of the campaign on Instagram, to become the Just a Card Digital Marketing Membership Tutor. Wildcurrant’s niche is creative businesses of all sorts. I currently work with nationally and internationally recognised ceramicists, sculptors, glass artists and printmakers along with some excellent service-based small businesses. My websites with excellent SEO and AI visibility start around the £4,000 mark.

Yes I can do it for less if you don’t want SEO and some businesses don’t need it.

Is it a lot of money? Yeah of course it’s a lot of money but ask my clients…

…ask my clients who are on page one of Google and who have made back the cost of my website within a month of going live.

They don’t consider it a lot of money.

For them it’s a business asset that’s making all the difference.

If you want a website that actually works for you, you know where I am :) I’m easy to work with. Most of my clients are still with me seven years later.

Three months ago I built a new website for Jeremy Moulsdale, a contemporary sculptor based in the UK.

It was so hot this weekend that I spent the evening in the shade digging around in clients’ Google Analytics I was delighted to find that he is ranking on page one of Google for all three key terms
‘contemporary sculptor’,
‘sculpture designer’
and ‘contemporary sculpture uk’.

All three.

In 90 days!

I was really delighted and very excited to let him know.

The part that has really stuck with me was something he mentioned in his reply.

In March - right after the site launched - a piece called The Golden Thread sold twice in the same week.

Both buyers had seen it at an exhibition.

But it was also the hero image on his new website.

Jeremy puts it better than I could: “I think even if people are buying my work through an exhibition, seeing things well presented on the website has an influence on their choice to buy.”

I think he’s right. Your website isn’t just a place people land after they’ve already decided.

It’s part of how they decide.

If your website isn’t doing that work for you, let’s talk.

Most small business owners I speak to have fewer than ten Google reviews and no real system for getting more. Then they wonder why a competitor with a longer list keeps winning the click.

You don't need a formal email sequence or an automated campaign.

In most cases, the simplest approach works best. When a client says something positive at the end of a job, say: "That's great to hear - would you mind leaving a Google review? I'll send you the link."

Then send the link directly to your Google review page so they don't have to search for it.

That's genuinely it.

The friction of finding your listing is often what stops people who fully intended to leave a review from ever doing so.

Remove that friction and most people will follow through.

One thing worth knowing: don't offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Google's guidelines prohibit it and your listing can be flagged if they spot a pattern.

If you'd like to look at your whole Google presence -reviews, your Business Profile content, local search visibility, and whether your website is supporting any of it - a Power Hour covers all of that in one session. It's £175 and you leave with a clear list of what to work on first. Book via this link: https://wildcurrant.co.uk/power-hour/

The end of May is when a lot of small businesses realise they’ve been meaning to sort out their website since January, and haven’t.

Summer brings more searches. More people looking for exactly what you offer. But if your Google Business Profile is out of date, your website doesn’t load on a phone, or your homepage still says the same thing it did three years ago, those people are finding someone else.

Swipe for a quick three-point check you can do right now.

Not sure what to fix first?

A Power Hour with me is £175 and you leave with a clear list of what to tackle next.

Or if you’re ready to go further — a Website SEO Audit (£675) or a Website in a Week (from £2,400) are both available now.

The website isn’t broken as such, it just isn’t working.

I had a client whose homepage ranked well and whose Google Business Profile hadn’t been touched in two years.

Wrong number.
No photos.
Google noticed.
New customers didn’t call.

The nine steps guide in my bio covers this. It’s free and it’s a good place to start.
