My take on the news about British Heart Foundation 💔

04/06/2026

There’s so many new face around here 🤯 so I wanted to say hi 👋

I’m Nicole, AKA The Fruit Moth.

I started my brand in 2020 using preloved fabrics (your grandmas curtains) to create unique clothing and accessories that don’t cost the earth.

Things have changed around here in the past year though.

After organising my DIY wedding last year, I made the difficult decision to close my shop - something which had been my childhood dream.

It knocked my confidence more than I admitted at the time, and I found myself losing the urge to sew and in turn - losing myself a bit.

But since moving into my dream cottage in February - I have well and truly found my sew-jo again, but lost all interest in trying to sell my makes.

So now I’m just sewing for the love of it. Being creative. Making things with no worries about how long they’ll take or how much they’ll cost to make.

Because in truth - having to consider profit margins really does put a barrier between you and your creativity!

Who knows what the future holds - but for the first time in years I’m not worrying about that too much and I’m enjoying just LIVING 🎉

Hello new profile picture 👋

I had the MOST fun with on my mini branding shoot last month at the most beautiful Victorian house in Cheadle 😍

I took three of my makes to have photos in, this was my birthday dress and the colours are just so amazing. I found the fabric in Abakhan in the remnant bins, and the dress pattern is the flutter sleeve dress from The Assembly Line with the balloon sleeve option and an added waist belt.

Thank you so much Jess for making me feel so comfortable on the day and taking some photos that I actually like 😂

I’ll share more soon 😍

Some normal, some not so normal, last one probably unhinged.

BUT the spell worked and I got THE job which was top of my list of things I wanted to happen this year so YAY!

What have you been doing to fill your cup recently?

Things are changing and it’s scary but great ❤️

I started this business on a total whim. It was a lifeline for me and threw me back into being a creative. Never did I think I would take it full time, or that anyone would be interested in the things I made.

I went on to win two awards, open a shop, collaborate with Uniqlo, be featured in magazines and newspapers… MADNESS.

But sometime things aren’t supposed to last forever, they’re supposed to morph into something different, and that’s what’s happening with TFM.

I don’t know what The Fruit Moth looks like business wise in the future, but I know that The Fruit Moth is really just me - and will be whatever I need it to be.

A new chapter is loading and I am excited for the challenge.

One year as Mrs Goddard 💒

A year ago today we did the legal bit with our beautiful family. I didn’t think I was going to be nervous as in my head the “real” wedding was the next day, but I woke up feeling SO sick with my stomach doing somersaults 😵‍💫

We had the most beautiful day, absolutely filled with laughter just like our whole relationship 💍❤️

I wore a one-of-a-kind Alexander McQueen moth print kimono bought at auction and a veil I found in the charity shop for £10 and added handmade silk flowers to it.

How has it been a year though?!

Sometimes you just need a bit of time with your creations to fall in love with them, and this was a prime example.

When I first tried it on I immediately thought absolutely not - these are pyjamas. But a few weeks later I’ve tried it on again and actually I love it now?!

What do we think - pyjamas or a great summer outfit?

Had the honour of being asked to judge at the Fashion Business Technology showcase for the second year in a row.

The creativity and collaboration between the students blows my mind - they have SO much to offer the industry.

Congratulations to the powerhouses behind who won the award, it was a really tough decision as there were some amazing business ideas in the shortlist but their unique idea has such a great scope for growth - we’re hoping to see them on Dragons Den 👀

Wishing all the students all the luck for their graduate careers which are looking shiny from here ✨
