🔥 New Korean BBQ & Japanese Spot Now Open in Canterbury!

St Dunstan’s Street in Canterbury has welcomed the official opening of Yaki Seoul, a new Korean BBQ and Japanese restaurant.

The restaurant serves Japanese A5 Wagyu, crispy tempura, authentic Korean dishes and slow-boiled beef broth.

To celebrate, the restaurant is offering 20% off all food until Sunday.

It is open daily from midday to 9:30pm at 89–90 St Dunstan’s Street.

📊 Big Change for Margate
Councillors at an Extraordinary Council meeting on 18 June 2026 agreed to establish a new Margate Town Council for Margate following overwhelming public support and formal approval of the recommendations. Two consultations delivered 476 responses, with 87.5% in favour of the proposal. Margate is currently the only town in Thanet without a parish or town council. The new council will formally begin on 1 April 2027, with elections on 6 May 2027.

The wards for the new Margate Town Council will mirror those of the existing district council. This means there will be seven wards, represented by 19 town councillors. 🏛️📊✨

To ensure the new council is safe, legal, and ready to run smoothly from day one, a Shadow Town Council will be set up.

Francesca Hennessy , known as the “Billion Dollar Baby”, is getting closer to a world title opportunity after another impressive victory. The undefeated boxer secured her 9th professional win at Wembley Arena, stopping Italy’s Aurora De Persio in the 6th round.

The 21-year-old successfully defended her WBC Silver Bantamweight title and continues to rise through the rankings. 👏

With a possible world title shot ahead, Francesca’s journey is becoming one to watch.

Indie rock performer Peter Doherty has enjoyed time around the town, taking in the local atmosphere and seaside vibe.

He also visited the Margate FC Community Trust drop-in today after having a kickabout on the pitch at Margate Football Club ⚽. The visit added a special moment for staff and the local community.

Canterbury shoppers were treated to a very unusual sight as TV stars were spotted pushing a giant red ball through the city centre. The filming was for a new TV show called Let’s Play Ball, bringing plenty of curiosity and smiles to the streets. 😄

Canterbury once again became the backdrop for something very different! 📸

📸🌊 Thanet Camera Club brings photography exhibition to Margate

Thanet Camera Club’s annual exhibition is now taking place in Margate for the first time in many years, running from 19th–21st June 2026 at a popular seafront location 🖼️✨

Open daily from 10am–4pm, the exhibition showcases a wide variety of members’ work, including landscapes, wildlife, buildings, urban and rural scenes, alongside photographs produced using analogue cameras. 📷

Club members are on hand throughout the exhibition to talk about the images, the club, and photography in Thanet.

💙🏔️ A family’s incredible challenge brings hope to Tunbridge Wells Hospital

A family has raised £10,000 for Hedgehog Ward after climbing Ben Nevis in support of children receiving care. Their niece Bella was diagnosed with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia at just 6 years old and has been receiving treatment on the ward.

The donation, made through MTW Hospitals Charity, will help fund toys, activities, game carts and improvements for families spending time on Hedgehog Ward. 🧸✨

The family wanted to give back to the team who have supported Bella.
