A few people have asked why the page has been so quiet lately...
Ill be honest.
Im considering closing down permanently. Therefore before I make any rash decisions, I've decided to take a step back and think...
There are many reasons we are considering closing, but to name a few...
We're underpricing our products to the point its costing more than we're making, just to attract custom, and still custom is very little. You'll see similar designs on etsy for £25-£30 PLUS postage.
On average i spend 1-2 hour making new designs online, then I spend 3-4 hours, printing, cutting and gluing together, to usually make £10 (excluding costs of ink, paper, Lamination, cardstock, glue, sticky pads, cake sticks). Ive had people commenting saying its expensive, but would you work for 6 hours for £10?
I have spend a lot of money previously on advertising for Facebook, Instagram, etsy and eBay, in hopes of boosting following, support and sales... however this was just an extra cost with no benefit of extra followers or sales. I also put time and effort into advertising competitions and freebies via post engagement, which didn't go to plan either.
No customer pictures or feedback - 9/10 I will complete a sale, post the items off, but if it wasn't for my postage tracking, I wouldnt know if the customer had recieved their items. I never get any "thank you its arrived" messages, which often gas me worrying something is wrong with my item sold. Customer pictures are highly valued as I can only take pictures of my cake toppers - buying or making a cake everytime I made a new design would take business costs even higher, making profits even more none existent than they are.
No customer loyalty. With this kind of business its hard to establish customer loyalty. I make cake toppers but im not solely limited to cake toppers, there are virtually no limits to what I can create, for any occasion! However, none of my customers message "is it possible to make this?" Instead, customers, friends and family will search for under qualified 'graphic designers' who soley rely on ChatGPT to make logos, birthday invitation, cards, table decorations etc...
No profits after 2 years. After two years of buying new machines to cut, new printers, expanding, investing in different cardstocks (holographic, textured, coloured, glittered), Lamination, stationary, tools and equipment i am still yet to make any profit, its all been a cost so far...
Let's not get into Copyright and pending lawsuits 👀✂️🤣
So im asking you as customers, how you think we can improve these issues? What kind of services, items, products, competitions or solutions would you guys like to see?
Hopefully after some time away, spent thinking ill find my motivation again, but so far its been a lot of work and a lot of costs for not much positive. Its such a touch decision because my passion has always been creating pretty things and pleasing people. This business is designed purely on creating things to give clients and customers happiness, which in turn brings me happiness, so I am motivated and determined to make this work somehow! 🤌✨️
