A difficult decision for Cleland Gala Day 💔

Unfortunately, after tonight’s committee meeting, we have to be honest and say that Cleland Gala Day may not be able to go ahead in 2027.

Tonight, only two new members came along to find out more about joining the committee. This leaves us with just 5 committee members moving forward all with young families, jobs and other commitments.

Organising the gala involves months of planning, fundraising, admin, organising entertainment, liaising with stallholders and suppliers, and so much more.

With only five people, it simply isn’t realistic or fair to expect the same small group to take on everything.

And this is what makes us so sad… 💔

We don’t want to see Cleland Gala Day disappear.

We don’t need people with experience we just need more people willing to share the workload, bring ideas and get involved.

So, before we have to make the difficult decision that there will be no Cleland Gala Day in 2027, we’re asking one final time…

📸 I am delighted to invite people across Clydesdale to participate in a new photography competition; “Celebrating Clydesdale”.

The competition has three categories – Under 12s and 13-18 years, and adults over 18. The theme, “Celebrating Clydesdale”, is about presenting an image of what you think best represents the place we call home.

We ask please that entries are returned to my office digitally by close of play on Friday 30th October. Address to send to is [email protected]

The winning entry will appear in my parliamentary office and the winner will receive a framed copy of their winning entry along with a certificate.

I very much look forward to seeing the entries from people across Clydesdale!

Delighted this morning to receive my copy of The Wee Red Book. Scotland's iconic football bible.

Amazing to see our brand sitting alongside other well known media brands and also to be included in this little part of history which has been publishing for nearly a century.

The Wee Red book is an annual pocket-sized Scottish football publication by Glasgow Times, which contains both the following season's fixtures in Scotland's four senior divisions and lists of previous league and cup winners from Scotland, England and Europe.
