AD| Yesterday I paid a visit to in Low Fell, and it reminded me exactly why I love this place so much. It had been a while since my last visit, but walking through the doors felt like coming home. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming and stylish, blending the character of a traditional pub with a modern dining experience. Whether you’re popping in for a drink, a family meal or a catch up with friends, it’s the perfect setting.
This time I decided to sample some of their small plates although ā€œsmallā€ definitely isn’t the word I’d use! First up was the bruschetta, and wow, the portion size was huge. Fresh, toasted bread piled high with vibrant toppings, bursting with flavour and beautifully presented. It could easily be a meal in itself.
The pork belly bites were absolutely incredible perfectly cooked, melt-in-the-mouth pork with a delicious salsa that added just the right balance of sweetness and freshness. Every bite was packed with flavour.
The homemade hummus served with warm flatbread was another standout. Smooth, creamy and full of flavour, with the freshly warmed flatbread making the perfect accompaniment.
Then came the Gambas Pil Pil succulent king prawns cooked in a rich garlic and chilli oil that was simply irresistible. If you’re a seafood lover, this is a must order dish.
And of course, no visit would be complete without their homemade chips. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and absolutely heavenly. Sometimes the simplest things are the best!
The food, service and atmosphere were spot on as always. If you’ve never visited, you’re missing out. And if it’s been a while, take this as your sign to go back.
Don’t forget they also serve a cracking Sunday roast that’s become a firm favourite with locals, and they’re showing all the England World Cup games too, making it the perfect place to enjoy great food, a few drinks and soak up the match day atmosphere.
Highly recommended I’ll definitely not be leaving it so long before my next visit!

Hello, I’m Mel. I’ve been with my partner for 12 years. I’m originally from Durham but now live in Gateshead.
I love creating content, especially around holidays, food, and restaurants. I wouldn’t even like to guess how many photos and videos I have on my phone at this point!

I’m currently on a weight loss journey. I had a gastric bypass in August 2025 and have lost nearly 8 and a half stone so far.
Don’t be fooled by the beautiful food on my page I love photographing it more than eating it sometimes lol. I usually just have a small taste, and my family are very happy to finish the rest.
I became visually impaired in 2016, and it’s hard to believe it’s been almost 10 years. It’s something I’ve adapted to and learned to live with.
I’m fiercely independent and have built a successful social media marketing and travel business.

Before building my career in social media and travel, I worked in council roles within children’s services and also in my early years a resort rep with TUI in Ibiza and Benidorm. While I valued that chapter, I’m much happier now working in a space that gives me freedom and flexibility.

I’ve built a successful, lucrative travel business that fits around my life and needs something that’s been especially meaningful since my sight loss. It’s given me a real sense of purpose and shown me that success is still absolutely possible with a disability.
I love travelling, and as soon as I can, I’ll be spending even more time abroad than in the UK which my business thankfully makes possible.

I’m a big fan of Indian and Asian food, musicals, cinema, and socialising although I do also enjoy the occasional weekend doing absolutely nothing.
I’m far from perfect, and what you see on my socials is genuinely me. I know I’m not everyone’s cup of tea, and that’s fine.
If you’re looking for extra income and flexibility, feel free to message me.

AD| Last Sunday I had the pleasure of visiting in Low Fell, and what an absolute treat it was!

Their Sunday lunch offer is incredible value at just Ā£11.95 for THREE courses a deal that’s hard to beat. I tucked into tasty roast beef and succulent chicken, both cooked beautifully and packed with flavour. The rich, homemade gravy was absolutely amazing, the vegetables were cooked spot on, and the Yorkshire puddings were huge just how a proper Sunday lunch should be! šŸ™Œ
From the warm atmosphere to the quality of the food, Il Grande certainly delivered. If you’re looking for a delicious and affordable Sunday lunch in Low Fell, this is definitely one to add to your list.
Have you tried their Sunday lunch yet?
