Isle of Wight Fostering

Isle of Wight Fostering We offer information about the Isle of Wight Fostering service. Interested in fostering? Get in touch!

Every year, children on the Isle of Wight will require foster carers. Whether their parents have been taken ill, find themselves unable to cope with the demands of childcare, or through more tragic circumstances, these children need your help. Foster carers will take children into their own home for a temporary period - a month, a year or sometimes longer - to help them thrive, with the help of a specialist team, in a caring and a safe environment and help them build their future. As an IOW foster carer, you will be given the opportunity to provide a secure and loving home for a child that needs change and direction. You will change the lives of children within your local community, and they will change yours, too. It takes an Island ๐Ÿ’™

Youโ€™ve probably heard the saying โ€œit takes a village to raise a child.โ€ Here on the Isle of Wight, we think it takes an Island.

Foster Together is looking for more local people who could offer a safe, supportive home to an Island child who needs one.
Having foster carers here on the Island can help children stay close to the things that matter to them, from their school and friends to familiar places and their local community.

You donโ€™t need to have all the answers. You just need the willingness to make a difference, and weโ€™ll be there to support you along the way.

We are pleased to share that Isle of Wight Council's fostering service has relaunched as Foster Together.

The new identity has been shaped by feedback from foster carers, children and young people, partners and stakeholders from across the Isle of Wight. Through those conversations, it became clear that we needed a name that better reflects what fostering on the Island is all about: people working together to support local children and young people.

While our name and visual identity have changed, our commitment remains exactly the same. We continue to focus on finding safe, loving homes for Island children and providing the highest level of support to foster carers and families.

Many people dismiss the idea of fostering because they live with parents or other family members. The reality is that fostering is about much more than who owns the home.

If fostering is something you've considered, why not get in touch and explore what's possible? You don't need all the answers before making that first enquiry. ๐Ÿ’™
