A self-reflection moment ✨

I was editing a video today for Motion Hatch, and I looked back at my timeline.

I thought, wow, look how far I’ve come! 🥰😅

So I went and looked back at one of the first YouTube videos I edited for Motion Hatch and saw the difference…

I think even if you’re not familiar with video editing, you can see the amount of detail and elements that go into the videos I edit today.

It feels so good to see how my skills over this past year have progressed!

1. Topics

So far, these are only for reels, and there are only a selected few topics to choose from. You can only choose 3 topics for each Reel, so choose wisely, as these are what help Instagram send out your reel to your target audience.

2. Music with Images

I believe this one has been stolen by TikTok… You can now add music to your images to help grab the attention of any feed scrollers.

3. Subscriptions

In order to help creators earn money from Instagram, they have introduced subscriptions for creators. Followers can choose to pay a monthly fee for exclusive content and exclusive group chats with their favourite creators.

So why not make it easier for yourself by re-purposing content that’s worked in the past and on other platforms?

A great way to fill up your content calendar is to look back on your other platforms over the year and see which content performed the best.

I’ve been a big fan of YouTube since 2011 and have always been passionate about the platform and its creators. Being a 2000’s baby 👶🏼 - I’m definitely part of the YouTube generation, growing up watching the OG British YouTubers like Zoella Louise Pentland and Joe Sugg

I’m very aware that being a creator or influencer is seen as an easy job, but I can assure you it’s not! This is why I want to expand my services at Meze Multi-Media to cater to creators.

So I thought I’d share the start of my journey of shifting my business’ services by sharing YouTube creators that I think are killing it at the moment 🔥

Katie Steckly - A great example of how to make informative videos engaging by switching up her environment and sticking to a niche subject of creator growth.

Jack Edwards - The king of starting his own trends as a book creator and recently won creator of the year.

Lydia Violeta - Shares a mixture of university and travel content, which is what every twenty-something aspires to be, but also keeps it down to earth and relatable.

Hannah Elise - Her post-grad diaries series is excellent as she shares the struggles of post-grad life, such as living costs, making friends, and keeping your space clean to keep your mind at peace.

Ryan Trahan - Never has an audience been so captivated by a guy trying to make money in the strangest yet most simple ways. His $1 fundraiser challenge was incredibly entertaining and inspiring. And huge credit goes to his videographer and editor for that series.

Eamon and Bec - Their content following Bec through her Cancer journey has been incredibly moving and inspiring. They’re incredible filmmakers and powerful people.

Kara and Nate - Produce the most incredible travel vlogs with great filmmaking at their core. The way they tell the story of their journey through their vlogs is what every travel YouTube should aspire to.

I’ve reached a business milestone this week! 🎉

I've been working with Motion Hatch for almost two years editing the Motion Hatch podcast, then the YouTube channel and recently, their new course aimed at the motion design community.

Their new course, Balanced Business Bootcamp, is a fantastic course about creating systems and processes to help motion design business owners free up time while running their businesses.

I've thoroughly enjoyed editing this course, not only because I love editing but also because I'm passionate about business, especially as I'm currently navigating running my own business - Meze Multi-Media. What a privilege! ☺️

So I'm super excited to announce that I have secured another client in this sector, where I'll be editing a course about Instagram! 📲

This is work that I'm really enjoying and am hoping to do more of in the future.

This is the story of how I went from a Filmmaking Graduate to a small business owner at 22. Consider this my 'Marvel Origin Story'. 🦸🏼‍♀️

I graduated from my 3-year University degree in 2021.

I was finishing my second year of University when Covid hit. My final project for that year was cancelled, and we moved to online learning.

Throughout this time, working from home, my aspirations to work in the Film and TV industry diminished. I'd applied for many TV training courses, and the brutally long application processes dampened my spirits, especially when I never heard anything back.

For my final year project and University, I decided to focus on a commercial project designed for social media. 📲

My career aspirations soon shifted from TV production to social media marketing.

I earned a first-class degree and began looking for jobs in social media marketing whilst working at Nandos (where I'd been working part-time since 2017)

Eventually, I started a role as a Social Media Marketing Assistant in January of 2022. However, after three months, I felt restricted and honestly just bored. I didn't feel challenged in any way.

So I thought I'd challenge myself to start my own business. 😅

I'd always wanted to start my own business, but I thought I'd do that maybe at 30 years old, not at 22.

In May 2022, I launched Meze Multi-Media. I was so excited and scared, and it's been a huge learning curve so far. But it's been the learning experience and challenge that I craved.
