Excited to share a client spotlight 🍄

It’s been nearly a year now working with the team at feelgüd, so not exactly a new client announcement, but definitely one that’s overdue.

Over the past 12 months, I’ve had the pleasure of managing their Google Ads and Meta Ads, helping introduce more people to a brand that’s making wellness simple, effective and enjoyable.

Over a year in with Ellie and the team at Fern The Agency, and this kind of feedback never gets old.

We’ve collaborated on a real range of projects together, some genuinely fun accounts, and it’s been amazing to be part of what they’re building.

Paid ads works a lot better when there’s a strong organic strategy behind it, and the same goes the other way. Having an agency partner who gets that makes all the difference.

About time, Google. 👏

It looks like we are finally getting a steering wheel for AI Max.

A new “Branded Searches” setting is showing up in accounts, giving us actual guardrails over search intent.

Instead of letting the algorithm run wild, you get three clear choices:

Default behaviour (all searches)
Strict list control (inclusions/exclusions)
Pure acquisition (unbranded only)

As an e-commerce marketer, this opens up some massive strategic plays.

Think about multi-brand fashion retailers.

When you carry dozens of different designer labels, your search intent is incredibly complex. Being able to feed the algorithm specific brand inclusions means we can finally build tailored boundaries around supplier traffic.

On the flip side, the “unbranded only” toggle is a dream for aggressive growth.

If your primary KPI is shifting towards net-new customer acquisition, you can instantly cut out the fluff. No more paying for clicks from users who were already looking for you by name.

You force the AI to hunt where it hurts: cold traffic.

AI Max is still relatively fresh, but it’s great to see updates that prioritise control rather than just hiding the data.

I’m incredibly eager to get this into our e-com accounts this week to see if the ex*****on matches the promise.

I once took on a client I knew was going to be a nightmare. 😬

Opened up the account on day 1.

13 agencies in under 10 months.

I saw it. I took the work anyway.

Because when you’re just starting out, you don’t feel like you’re allowed to say no.

He spoke to me like dirt. 🚩

Questioned everything. Took credit for wins. Disappeared when invoices were due.

He still owes me money to this day.

Fast forward to 3 months ago.

He came back asking to work together again.

I said no. ✅

And I want you to understand how good that felt.

Not in a petty way. In a “I have built something that means I no longer have to tolerate that” kind of way.

Now I get to choose who I work with. 🙌

That’s not luck. That’s what happens when you stop saying yes to the wrong people long enough to attract the right ones.

If you’re currently working with someone who makes you dread opening your emails.

This is your sign.

You’re worth more than that. 💪

Excited to share a new client announcement 🍷🍺

I’ve recently started working with Drinkwize to help grow their presence on Google Ads and get their products in front of the right people.

Google Analytics is rolling out a new “AI Assistant” Default Channel Group to better track traffic coming from platforms like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude 🤖📈

Still waiting to see it appear across client accounts, but this could become a huge shift in how we measure organic discovery and AI search visibility.

Really enjoyed working with Alice and the team at Elevate. We covered a lot of ground together, including some GTM and tracking work, but ultimately it’s all in service of the same thing: making sure paid ads are actually working as hard as they should be.

Finally seeing this new update appear on a few Meta ad accounts 🤯

When this rolls out to everyone, I will be heavily recommending the ‘Acquire New Customers’ option.

The reality is most ad accounts have inflated ROAS numbers due to existing customers. While those numbers look good in a report, they do not represent true growth.

You are essentially paying Meta to reach people who would likely have bought from you anyway. 💸

If you want to actually grow a business, you have to find new customers. Prioritising new acquisition might mean a slightly higher cost per result, but the long-term value of a new customer makes it worthwhile.
