We keep noticing the same confusion in how interior and product brands talk about themselves, reaching for the language of luxury when what they’ve actually built is something premium. The two aren’t interchangeable, and the difference is worth understanding properly.

Premium is a quality argument, felt in the joinery, the finish, the material still doing its job years after the trend that launched it has moved on. Luxury asks something else of a space entirely, less about what holds up under inspection and more about what a room makes someone feel before they’ve noticed a single detail.

Most of the confusion we see in client positioning comes from borrowing luxury’s language to describe premium’s substance, and it shows up in how a project gets priced, how it’s photographed, how it’s described to someone who’s never walked through the door.

Worth sitting with which one you’re actually building, before deciding how to talk about it 🤎

I have LOVED deep diving into and over the years.

Every studio and product brand I talk to is having the same argument with themselves right now: more ad spend or more content, chase the platform or build the list, hire it out or do it in-house. Her story isn’t just an inspiration, it’s a live case study in a decision most people in this industry are avoiding making on purpose.

She turned down the platform that would have made her the most visible, because it was quietly steering her toward client work that didn’t fit the studio () she actually wanted to run. That’s the part worth sitting with if you’re an interior designer chasing a magazine feature or a TV slot: reach and rightness for your business are not the same thing, and you’re allowed to choose the second one.

is also handling AI the way I think every design studio should be. Useful for the boring 40% of the job, nowhere near the finished room (same with us!). If you’re worried AI is coming for your creative work, watch what she actually does with it, not what she says about it in interviews.

None of this makes safer than the brands spending big on growth. It makes her slower, on her own terms. For most interiors businesses I know, that’s the right trade, and almost nobody is making it deliberately.

Have a think... where in your business are you choosing loud over right, and calling it strategy?

Pinterest board → creative direction → shoot day → the result 🎀

Every content day we run starts the same way. A moodboard. Not because the images need copying, but because they help us find the thread, the colour story, the feeling we’re building toward before anyone picks up a camera.

For .uk that thread was pink tennis balls, ribbon bows, and the kind of imagery that makes you want to be courtside with a smoothie.

Swipe to see the full journey from inspo to final gallery.

If you’re planning a content day for your brand and want it to feel this considered, we’d love to hear from you. Link in bio.

What this month looked like at The Brand Muse 🤎 June brought Ace & Grace to market, a wedding that had us all a little teary, Ceri soaking up some well-earned time off, a trip to France and Jen officially joining the team (welcome, Jen).

Some months are about the work. This one was about the people behind it! ✨

The first quarter has closed, and the year is beginning to reveal its rhythm. Before the pace of summer arrives, there’s a moment to pause, refine and realign.

Not every meaningful shift in a business needs to be loud. Often it’s the smaller, more considered decisions that strengthen a brand over time.

A clearer message, calmer offer or more intentional client experience.

These are ten quiet moves female founders in the interior and lifestyle industries can make this month to support their brand before Q2 fully unfolds.

Save this for the months ahead. Chapter five arrives in May.

Where ideas begin to take shape ✨ the early stages are always our favourite from pulling references, refining direction, to quietly building something that feels just right.

Because the best brands aren’t rushed… they’re considered 🤎
