Hold up. Take a pause.

It's nearly December and sh**'s about to get real.

So, here's a friendly reminder (if you need it) to keep a level head about Christmas; it's the little things you'll remember and treasure the most.

With that in mind, these are the top 3 rules I'm sticking to for a more sustainable Xmas for 2025 (it's not about being perfect, just doing better):

1. Make smart present choices e.g. will it last? Can be it be used/worn on repeat? What about after that?
2. It's OK to gift second-hand. Attitudes to this desperately need to change.
3. Buying new? Choose local, hand-crafted items. They mean SO much more (to the makers and the person you're gifting to).
4. I've never been one for trends so this one's easy... don't cave into the 'latest' this or that; it's usually tat destined for landfill and will lose its appeal faster than the thought of yet another mince pie β€” after you've already woofed down 700 β€” the first in October.

Pre-DOLLY, I had the joy of working with this Saudi high-fashion label. Behind the extraordinary dresses is Creative Director Waad Aloqaili.

We tend to think of high fashion as frivolous and unattainable but behind her designs, Waad has real purpose. She dedicates her work to women: family, friends, staff, the makers, women in the community. Not only raising awareness of women's issues in her home country (and beyond) but contributing to, and supporting charities that help women.
